That's where I find it funny and weird. OK, maybe I'm not a typical American. But, I still see telling someone they are attractive, or look good because of their clothing or happiness, to be a compliment and nothing more.

Going beyond compliments is where the problem is.

Now I don't dare to flirt with you anymore. Haha! :P

Why not? Even at my age, I still flirt. Caught my mom (guess it's genetic) flirting at the age of 86 with a waiter at the restaurant I took her (3 weeks before she died). I told her she was even older than his grandma and she said "He's quite good looking, you know". Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

But flirting has indeed a different meaning in different countries I've learned recently. That's why I was asking.
Here in Holland for example it is okey to flirt, even if you are taken and I do it sometimes just to get things done by older woman (10+ age difference), as they seem to be more... how shall I put this... sensitive for it. But that is innocent.

Oh, you are horrible!  ;D

What's the point in 'going steady' then if the game kind of considers you to be in a relationship when you're at the 'romantic interest' stage? Weird.

I've cheated loads in the game, I've played out all kinds of fantasies, but that's what the game's for. There's a great big fat line between the game and real life. I even had a sim version of me and my partner, and had my partner go off with someone else. I didn't really intend for it to happen, but she was at their house and they were getting on really well so I thought what the heck.  ;D

As for real life, yeah it all varies culturally quite a bit. And even within the same culture age and a bunch of other things probably come into it. I've always flirted with my friends but it doesn't mean anything, I also flirt with random people sometimes just to brighten mine/their day. Again, only in certain situations where it won't be taken the wrong way. My ex was Finnish and it's like you just have to smile at someone and it's taken the wrong way with Finns, I got into so much trouble there.  ::)

I think people's line of acceptability is in slightly different places. They key is to find a partner whose line is in the same place, and with who you agree with what it means to cross that line.

I wish the Sims had an option for open or polyamorous relationships, it would be way more fun.

Woah, this is supposed to be a family friendly website.  In other words, no cursing.  But I do agree.  The game would be a lot more fun if sims could just have crushes or something like that.  I also think that the kids should be able to get crushes, but nothing more.  Who knows, maybe a lot of the people who made the sims 3 were from places where having crushes is considered cheating?

I remember crushes were possible in Sims 2. I wonder why they didn't include it in Sims 3.

You can have polyamorous relations. Give each involved the No Jealousy LTR and don't pay attention to the nosy townies. My sim was living with 3 male band members.

Yes, that is true! Very funny to make a family with that I assume.
Most woman in real life aren't that open minded unfortuniately. I sometimes ask around. :P

By cursing do you mean swearing? I didn't think I did, I'm quite careful not to on here, not that I'm much of a swearer in real life anyway....  :)

I didn't realise you could have multiple relationships like that with the no jealousy LTR! I'm going to give it a go.  8)
