Create-A-World tool issue
« on: May 17, 2012, 07:43:29 PM »
Downloaded the create a world tool from the sims 3 website, and when I try to run the installer, it says that an installed copy of the sims 3 is required and to please install a copy.  I'm wondering if because I bought my game through Steam, and it's installed through and I play through Steam, if that's the issue?

How do I convince the installer that I do have a copy of the game? Any help would be appreciated.

I recently downloaded the create-a-world and had all kinds of problems.  This post on the official forum has many good tips for fixing problems.  I remember reading something about issues with steam downloads here but can't remember specifics.  Hope it helps.

Yeah, in searching, it's basically impossible to use CAW with Steam games.  The fixes include editing a bunch of registry files to change your steam game to where CAW looks for it, which MIGHT work, or uninstall all your steam game and expansions and redownload through EA.  Ugh.

I'm a little miffed because I got some rad inspiration but ohhhh well.
