Hi, well my problem is that my sim has maxed fishing skill but I can't seem to catch a perfect deathfish. I catch them of all qualities but never perfect and I have been fishing for them for a few days now. Is there a book I need to read or something to be able to catch a perfect one? Also I am using perfect angelfish as bait.

Hey, reggie, welcome to the forums. Perfect Angelfish for bait was the only tip I was going to throw at you and you've already got that covered. It's very rare to get a Perfect Deathfish, so you're not doing anything wrong. Keep at it!

As soon as I post this I catch one... Just my luck. Seems I just needed to be a little bit more patient. Thanks for telling me it's rare to catch one. I thought it was going to be as easy as catching perfect alleycatfish and angelfish

Yes, Metro's right that perfect Deathfish are much harder to catch than all the other fish.  It always takes me a good while before I can get a perfect one.

Completing the Amateur Ichthyologist challenge will make it easier to catch bigger fish, and might also help catch better quality fish. You need to catch all 21 types of fish in the base game, or any 20 types of fish with World Adventures.

Isn't it true that you must have perfect bait for the whole foodchain from the cheese untill the deathfish?
I mean first grow perfect cheese (by using lifefruit, perfect lifefruit), than catch with that cheese the perfect alley catfish, with the catfish you catch the perfect angelfish and than finally you should have no trouble with catching perfect deathfish, right?
I never tried it before, but I asume that when the whole foodchain is perfect, it should be more than normal that the deathfish would be perfect to. Maybe the game remembers all the steps.

Not necessarily, Leto.  I've done that chain many times and still had trouble getting perfect Deathfish.  It just seems to take some time to get up to perfect.

And once you caught a perfect one, the chance of catching a second perfect one increases, or doesn't that matter?

You need a perfect angelfish. This may not be the only way, but:
Get your gardening skill up so you can grow cheese.
Grow perfect cheese for catfish bait (get about 10 of them)
Use them as bait
Get about 10 catfish (perfect)
Use the perfect catfish to catch 10 perfect angelfish
Use the perfect angelfish to catch the perfect deathfish!

Thanks, maddyclyde, but that has already been discussed in this thread and it's not a guarantee that you'll get a perfect Deathfish.  It still takes practice most of the time.

It's not so bad once you get your fishing and gardening skills up.
