Simbot Gardener?
« on: April 29, 2012, 04:42:04 PM »
Can it be done? I mean with sprinklers of course. I want to have quite a big garden [like, hundreds of plants]. If they don't have to water them all that cuts out a huge chunk of time. I wanted to use a simbot but I don't know if there is a way to make him immune to water. If not I may use a genie. What do you guys think?

Oh, and I am saying this and not using a regular sim because... i don't know, something different? This sim would probably have nothing but a life of servitude to the garden.

Their is no way to make your simbot immune to water but you don't need to if you just want to have them go into a garden with sprinklers.  The water coming from sprinkler won't short them out.

I thought it did... will simbots automously "play in sprinklers"? I am pretty sure that will short them out, no?

They will still automouly play in the sprinklers, however for me, putting a fence around the garden keeps sims from playing in the sprinklers.

Simbots usually come with a high level in handiness - might only be the handmade ones. With that you may be able to upgrade sprinklers to be automatic. So then they will come on at 5am and go off around 6am every morning without fail. As that is when the plants update their status/needs. With that way, as long as your Simbot is not around the garden after 5am and before 6am they can still be your gardener.  :)

That's what I would do, too.  Except the sprinklers come on at 4:00 a.m.

I have a level 10 Simbot Gardener, and used to carefully avoid them gardening/harvesting at the time the sprinklers auto-watered.

But eventually realised, that if the sprinklers are watering the garden, Simbots don't short out - manual or auto-watering

BUT they will definitely short out if they 'play with sprinkler/water toys'

In another garden, the family all complained they couldn't play in the sprinkler, and somehow my random planting had blocked access to it - I didnt bother moving anything as playing in the sprinkler definitely seems like one of those things my sims like to go and do when I'm looking for them to do something else, like wash the dishes!!

 :)
