Inventory at death of Sim?
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:45:38 PM »
Hi all,
I can't find the answer to this question anywhere, although I'm probably not looking in the right place.  LOL!  What happens to the inventory of a Sim that dies?  Can the family collect the belongings or are they gone?  I think the Collector goes into household inventory, but I wonder about all the rest.  Do I have to keep my Elder Sims empty in case Death comes a'calling?

Thanks.  Phyrie

When one of my sims dies, their inventory is put in another sim's inventory. I get a message about it. At first, I thought it goes to the sim closest to the sim that died, but i think it might just go down the list to the next oldest sim? Mind you, I'm not sure that that happens every time. I thought it did, but I seem to have lost track of my death flower somehow...

All of the dead Sim's belongings do get transferred to another Sim's inventory.  It's not always the next oldest.  I've seen it skip the oldest and go to the next one, probably because the oldest was Elderly and close to death, too.  Sometimes, it transfers to the next oldest blood relative and sometimes it's the in-law.  Wherever it goes, it all goes together at one time, even the Collection Helper.

Thanks to both of you.  I won't worry so much about it then.  As you can tell, I've never had a Sim die yet.  Well, not for natural causes anyway.  I had one electrocute himself, but he was saved by a Deathflower.  I'm playing my first legacy game, and am expecting a death soon, so I wanted to make sure my "stuff" wasn't going to be lost.

Thanks again, Phyrie

It's very unlikely that a Death Flower would be passed down because if the dying Sim has it in his inventory, it will be given to Grim in exchange for his life.  If that has already happened to you, the Death Flower is long gone.

Would the reaper have taken the flower even if they still died of old age? Because I don't remember the reaper coming without someone dying. Guess I should have kept better track of it lol.

According to Carl's guide, it works for all deaths except old age.

oops

According to Carl's guide, it works for all deaths except old age.

Well I don't know what happened then because I think I would remember another type of near-death. The reaper makes a lot of noise when he comes.

The death flower does work on old age.   The grim reaper came for my elder sim the other night and the sim gave him the death flower and the reaper went away, it puts the age back to the start of elder.  That is the first time I had ever used it and actually forgot the flower was in his inventory.

I just read in the guide that the death flower does not work on aging, I guess the grimmy had a change of heart on my sim and like I said, I had never even used the flower before and would have taken it out if I had remembered it was in there.  Not sure if this was a one time thing or it happens all of the time, so just wanted to  let people know, it does work with aging.

Oh yeah, now that you say it, I remember Pam telling me that somewhere. This should definitely be changed in the guide.
Pam, you know what to do! ;D

Yes, the Death Flower works with dying of old age.  I thought it had been corrected in the guide.  I'll take care of it right now.  Thanks everyone!
