They're really two different monsters. I have both a legacy and a dynasty. My legacy is a free for all. The dynasty is more challenging rule wise. For me partially, is the challenge to stick with it.

My Legacy wouldn't be so free-for-all if it didn't have this habit of constantly crashing my game. It seems to just follow them around from World to World. Doesn't even happen to my other families.  :-\

I'd love to do a dynasty but I am rubbish at telling stories. :(

You don't need to do a story, it's optional.  :)

Really? Ohhhh that's interesting :) at the min I'm trying to 'complete' a game as such without getting bored and starting a new family, I have 8 sims at the min over 3 generations, I want to try and make a nice big family tree :) I have them all living in the same house as I don't want any of them to move out, it's getting a bit stressful at the minute with 1 elder, 4 adults, 1 teenager and 2 toddlers lol.

Thomas is so right.  For me, the quickest way to kill a legacy attempt is to try and make it fit a storyline.  The vast majority of story lines I've read were ones the author applied to the sims in their game whether it really fit or not.  Most of the other legacy stories are more observational diaries of their progress.  Of the tiny remainder, most use fake neighborhoods and not saving to take pictures to match their story.  That's brilliant, but . . . I just want to play!  So the other story types suit me better.  And, of course, no need to tell a story at all, like Thomas said.

Or you can play along, take screenshots, and then a storyline pops into your head after the fact!

I had an idea start in my head after a spat with my boyfriend, but I can't write/tell/post the story until after it ends, because I don't want to break Metro's rules, and I need specific pictures - the only other way to get them is to break the rules.

Shirin, I've known many simmers who have one save file to play the family by the rules and create another whenever they need it to take pictures that would otherwise compromise either the rules or impact their sims in a way they don't want.  Like, if they wanted a husband and wife arguing but they didn't actually want to damage the relationship of the sims, they would just save the family with a new name and take those pictures, then delete the extra file with the angry spouses once they got what they wanted.  You can even say you're doing that so folks know you're obeying the rules and just using a dummy world to get shots you need.

That's a good idea, and certainly something I'll consider, but at this time...it sadly won't work.

(I need generation 9 to be a young adult, then an elder. :) )
