Groups Outing Article

There isn't a group outing article yet? Is anyone working on it?

Well, here are my observations:

  • When you form a group, the Sims in the group will follow your Sims where ever your Sim goes. That mean you can go from a park to the beach and then to the bar and then back home with everyone following.
  • It is considered a Late Night feature, but it was added to the game via a patch,
  • To add someone to your group, click on the Sim and click "Form Group". If you want them to get out of the group, click "Ask To Leave Group". To end the whole group, click your own Sim and select "Disband Group.
  • When you Invite Over or Invite Out a Sim, a group with the Sim will automactically form.
  • Having a Great Outing is easy. Keep their mood high by using the tips from the Party page or increase your relationship by a lot.
  • So far, I hadn't seen a lot of benefits concerning groups, besides the group following your Sim and new wants. I need someone to investigate if your Sim will receive rewards from a Great Outing.

So, what do you think?

Ha ha. Yeah, I'm guessing that's the general consensus and probably the main reason Carl has not made it a Guide priority. I'm sure there will be a Groups article eventually, but you nailed it on the head — aside from everyone in a Group automatically following you somewhere I'm not sure of the real benefits to even having one.

@Metro: Thanks. Hopefully someone who had organized large groups can write an article about this...or perhaps I can.

Oh, and here's the list of wants I observed so far based on groups:

    • Form a Group
    • Have a Great Outing
    • Group Up With X

Unfortunately, I won't be able to go on The Sims 3 for a week, so I can't really investigate.

I've seen that the relationship level between the Sims in the group raises itself significally after a Great Outing. At least I believe it was the group outing that did it, but my current Sim's relationship levels can jump quite suddenly.

Correct. That is a nice benefit. It must be a clone of the party mechanic and how relationships can jump after Epic parties.

Is there any situation when you can't form a group? Sometimes the option is not available.

When your sim is too tired?
      When it is too late?
When the other sim is working.

If you have the LTR "Excellent groupie", you always have a great outing. My sim would get a moodlet for "great time out".
Friendship levels go up from a great time out. Aquaintances can become good friends and friends become best friends.
To increase relations with your boss and co-workers, this is an excellent way to do it.

I have my sim take her aquaintances to dinner, then after eating to a club for dancing. It's better than a party.

One note : some of them go home with you afterwards (those that are not too tired) and then leave in their car from your home. If you want, before they jump in their car you can invite them inside.
