Potty training problems
« on: April 16, 2012, 08:29:03 AM »
My sim toddler has yet to be potty trained.  Not because I am not having her try or she won't but beecause the choice has never shown up.  I was given the option to teach to talk and walk, which was done immediately.  But no potty training.

Took her to the potty chair, took mom to the potty chair but no training option.

She ages up in two days, will this affect chosing her trait?

Can I extend the days of toddler right now and do whatever is suggested so she will be potty trained or will it be too late.

Im my adoption sim, as soon as I had them walking the potty training option came up.   So  I am confused as to why it isn't showing up with this sim family.

Have you tried moving the potty chair or selling the one you have and buying a new one.

hummm, no, I  have one in front room beside the toys, study (also beside toys) and the bedroom by the crib.  Tried them all. Mom and dad are doing okay with income so splurged on toys and potty chairs, with going to have possibly three toddlers at one time I figured it would be smart thinking on my side,  :D

Will try sellling them and see what happens.

Does extending the time of being a toddler help, or is it for them already set in stone?  Second toddler has yet to potty train but has longer time before aging up.

When you click on the potty chair what exactly happens. Is the option greyed out.

If the toddler is in his or her crib or playing with toys you will not be able to potty train so make sure you take the toddler out of the crib first and cancel the action to play with toy.  Could the toddler already be potty trained as once you complete potty training the option will not come up. Can you click on the toddler and get them to use the potty chair.

The baby isn't in the crib, and I have tried with and without playing with toys.  All I get is the no interation is possilbe type of sign.
I even had the toddler walk to the potty and nothing.  When she has to potty she does the crying and mom or dad come over and do the diaper change.  She won't go to the potty chair and it never comes up.  Otherwise it is all great; all the books have been read, either by a parent or she has looked at them herself and she has toped out the pegs and music.

She is one happy little girl and the boy the same, just no potty training is showing up.  He has maxed the pegs and music and mom and dad are working on the books.

I had thought signing out and coming back later would work, but it hasn't; guess I have to wait and see how it affects the traits being chosen by me or the program.

you could always change the traits later, also does the child even need to use the potty when you select because the action wont come up if their bladder is empty.

ratchie mentioned this already but do you click the potty (not the child) when you are controlling mom or dad?
When you teach a toddler to walk and talk, you click the child, but to teach potty you have to make a parent use the actual potty chair.

The option to pottytrain should pop up anytime as long as the toddler has not already learned it. I usually make them practise 2-3 times in a row so the baby learns it in one go (they can train even when the baby does not need to go).

The option to potty train will come up even if their bladder is full and they don't actually need to go. Just like Noodles I queue the action to potty train several times in a row.

I deleted the "old" potty chairs and bought new ones as Rachel suggested and that solved the problem, as soon as I clicked on mom to pick up the kid as I have been doing, and the option to potty train came up.  It took no time to potty train her.
Same with the other toddler, a boy.  He was potty trained fast when I replaced the potty chairs.

I guess it was a glitch that affected all three chairs as I bought them at the same time.
I should have thought of that as all three were having problems, but  wasn't thinking of the chairs, but of what I was doing.

So, her traits so far are:  Love Outdoors, Artistic and te third one I went for was Photographer's Eye.
I am hoping that I can get her the lifetime wish of either Visionary or World Class Gallery.
