When your sims write books they get a free copy of them all in the mail.

No, the bookstore doesn't get any copies, but the library does. You can also put your copies on sale at the consignment shop.

I believe you can also order your Sim's books off the computer.

I haven't seen it cause problems, but if you have a low end system, it could be just one of many small things that add up. It will probably make your save file bigger, though I couldn't say by how much. Also, if you buy out the consignment store a lot, the same thing could happen, as the game generates books written by other sims to go in the store inventory. These will also all appear in the library. Really though, if small things like this that are a part of normal gameplay are causing problems, then you may need to upgrade your system.

The wonderfull thing about Simmy bookcases is, they never run out of space no matter how prolifi your writer sim!  However, I usually put read books in a storage box so that the sim does not keep re-reading the same book.  Why, o why, with 500 books available do sims prefer to re-read Where's Bella indefinately?

I didn't know that! I'll try that tomorrow with my author, Oscar Belle (Yes, he is Danny Belle from Union Cove's son).
