Concert Pianist
« on: April 01, 2012, 07:50:43 PM »
Hi! My Sim would like to be a concert pianist. I know that there is a level 10 in piano skills and he is aiming to reach that. My question is, what profession should he join to become a concert pianist? If there is none, what is the next best thing to becoming a concert pianist?  Can a concert pianist perform gigs like the other musician, or shows where he can play classical music or other music he knows. I've seen great show stages in the the game, an ampitheater in town, and great show places in Showtime. If I put a grand piano in the ampitheater or one of those places in Show time, can my Sim perform a concert there?  :)

I don't think you'll be able to do exactly what you want.  The Showtime performances don't include a pianist as far as I know, and both branches of the Music career require guitar skill.  The closest you could probably come is to let your pianist play for tips in front of a large crowd.  But I don't think that's what you're looking for.

Actually, they changed the music career, now the metric for progressing in the career is the highest of any of the musical skills (including piano).

WOW! Did they finally do this? Do you know if it came with a patch or Showtime EP? I have not patched because I'd rather not have the social/online additions, but this would be a welcome addition. I might patch my game some day...  :P
I wonder if the virtuoso trait affects only guitar like before?

While I don't doubt what Branr is saying truth, I recently had a sim join the music career and the metric still said Guitar for the first couple of promotions.  She hasn't gotten all the way to the top yet though.  I have every expansion and it was a completely new game.

Athena - there are really only two things I can think of for you to do what you want with your Sim and that's to join the music career's symphonic branch or you can create a band with another Sim to get gigs that way.  You still wouldn't really be able to use any of the new venues from Showtime however.

Thanks for your replies! Yes, I will have him join the music career in the symphonic branch. And then play gigs around town. That ought to be enough. :)

Ooh, that changes things in planning for my Dynasty. :) Thanks.

How did you find that out?
