Q : Radio and Burglar?

First off, hello

I've been playing The Sims 3 for almost a year and I've been wondering about one thing.

Is turning on radio or other stereo systems all day completely eliminates the chance of burglar coming to your house?

I'm not 100% sure, but I usually have a radios on 24/7 in my homes and I've still had burglar visits.

I wish it did make a difference, they probably just steal em anyway, lol.

Logically, thieves won't enter a noisy house as they thought there are people awake inside.

I'm not 100% sure about this either, with the chance of being robbed is relatively uncommon, it's hard to do the test by myself since I sometime turned off the radio when I got bored, then go to sleep, then stuff happens XD

The good part if this is true is, the alarm will wake your sim, but not radios in another room. And the first 2 radios (I only got HELS + WA addition at the moment) are cheaper than the alarm so might be useful in the early game.

Hmmm, maybe that is why the  burglar stops at the front door now and the alarm doesn't even go off, but the sims seem to always know he is there and get up anyway, in that case since the alarm didn't go off, I just wake another sim and have them call the police while the other one goes down to beat the tar out of the burglar until the police get there. 

Might be off topic some, but if you can't afford an alarm at the beginning and you have two sims, just wake up one sim and call the police and have the other sim fight the burglar.  Works everytime and you make 500 simoleons to boot.  (well same as I said above only different circumstances.)

I always have a radio playing in the main room, which is the only room with an outside door in the houses I build.  Unfortunately it has never deterred burglars.  I wish this did work - a radio is a lot cheaper than the burglar alarm.

I've got 3 sentences now :

1. I swear I didn't turn off the radio when the burglar came
2. I swear this is new, I really didn't know about this (in case anyone thought I knew this already from the begining)
3. I feel stupid now V_V

Never mind.  We all learn as we go.  That's what makes this forum so great - we're all dealing with the same challenges.  Snazzy house, by the way.
Awhile back I was playing a challenge and didn't want to spend money on the burglar alarm at the beginning.  I thought I had a brilliant solution.  My house had only one outside door, so every night I moved the door to an inside wall.  If there's no door the burglar can't get in, right?  Well, the burglar came and just vacuumed up stuff right through the wall.  Now I always buy the alarm!  Live and learn.

I have radios everywhere in the house (except for the bedrooms), and upgraded them all to get a better feeling/moodlet. If it isn't the radio, maybe you could turn on the light at night as well. There isn't a water and electricity bill though, so it would be logically if that will help. It does sometimes in real life.

My Sims won't fight the burglar unless they have the Brave trait or work in Law Enforcement.  Do your regular Sims fight the burglar?

No they don't have the brave trait.  Wonder why the burglar stops at the front door.  I have another household that they have the brave trait and he still comes in, so I know that the theory of calling the police would not work unless he just stands outside the door.  The only interaction he has when you click on him is to "pose", until someone comes out and then the option to fight comes up.  Funny how things are so different in the game.
