That really shouldn't be happening.  Did you try it in other game files to see if it's just limited to the one?

No, doesn't matter anymore. I've found on the internet in the meantime that you have to give your game a little time as it can need an Sim hour of... 6. Apperently it has a lot too calculate.
I'll let this topic open for in case someone has to say something.

I've had this happen to me about 75% of the time when I've had a vampire drink the cure. In the past I've had to resetSim and have them try it a second time before they would actually drink it.

Last time, my sims waited for around 15 mins (real time, not in game) to recover. But this is not really freezing. Please be patient.
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

I'm glad I read this I was so sure something was wrong with my game when it took my sim 6 hours to drink a tiny vial. But it makes sense that they need calculation time. It takes them a few days to become a vampire in the first place. The first time I tried it I mistakenly tried it outdoors... She almost burned to death and once it starts the process cannot be canceled, so I exit without saving. Everything worked out but I wasn't a happy simmer for a little time lapse there.

I understand that. If the game only mentioned first that you have to wait such an amount of seconds before turning, that would be welcome.
Or a countdown.

Oh a countdown for so many things would be fantastic. I dont know if it's poor planning or just an unforeseen afterthought that things like waiting time isn't mentioned. Or maybe the computers they use to make the game are so more advanced that there isn't waiting time and they don't think that its a problem until regular computers are used.

I may assume EA would test this kind of things on regular computers to see which one can handle it. I mean, otherwise they couldnt come up with a minimum hardware specifications at all.

@skybaker: even if your sim wad inside while turning back, didnt he she die because of all the needbars must be deep red after 15 minutes real time? I dont remember if the bars of my vamp freezes during the process or not.

Mine just wait a really long time. I speed up the Sim time, so it doesn't take too long. They don't actually freeze though. If you want to speed it up, you could just speed up the Sim time until they drink it.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.  :D

How did you get the vampirism cure?

How did you get the vampirism cure?

You can buy it at the science career building.
But the option only shows up when a vampire is selected however, if I remember correctly.
