Question - What about the Gnomes?
« on: March 10, 2012, 09:36:26 PM »
I was reading another post about Mysterious Gnome aging and then dying. I was like What?! Gnomes like dying, not cool!

I haven't played Sims 3 lately. I've got up to Sims 3 Generations installed, but I don't remember reading or hearing that Gnomes age.

Please tell me if you've got aging off in the game that the Gnomes don't age. I've got a few of them in my community (lot) garden. I love watching them disapear and then reapear in different places on the lot.

I have aging off, but I still had a gnome die. I think it's only the normal gnomes who do so - it's a feature that came with Generations - they have babies, toddlers, etc. The other gnomes (e.g. WA gnomes) don't seem to change.

I also really enjoyed the gnomes until Generations.  Then all the gnomes not only aged and died, but appeared in all my lots and all my different worlds.  Wowww.  I was deleting 'nome headstones' for a couple weeks.  I think they are all gone now.  Haven't seen one for a while.  I just delete any regular gnomes now.

There are quite a few specialty ones.  I have several.  From WA, and some of the professions and products made by the sims.  I don't want to give it all away.  They are fun, don't age and come as a complete surprise.  I won't be deleting these ones.  I really enjoy them.  I look forward to getting more.

You can sell the gnome headstones for about $1,000.  Not a bad price if your sim is struggling for cash.

My gnomes live very long lives.  Maybe they match my sims ageing - which is long as well.  I have only ever had one die but then I usually end up deleting my gnomes because they tend to get out of control especially the laundry gnome and the horse gnome.  I usually get quite a collection of them.  It's my view as well that they may lag your game when you get a few of them around.

I love having the Gnomes have kids, grow up and die.  The tombstones are nice and tiny, and they don't haunt (though a ghost gnome would be great!)

The baby/toddler gnomes are cute enough, but the teen gnomes are great, especially the rebellious ones which seem to look like punk gnomes (black eyeliner and leather jackets I think).

But it is just the ordinary vanilla gnomes, not the expansion pack gnomes.

That explains it!!! I started a legacy and was in the first generation. My lot was basically empty except for the tiny house my sims lived in. I started building their main house when I discovered a gnome headstone! I had no clue what the heck it was and stored in the basement until I figured it out.
That's actually quite exciting, I've always loved the gnome aspect of the game!
