Unwanted Pet Litters Appearing
« on: February 25, 2012, 09:38:26 PM »
Hi everyone.  I'm wondering how these pets (and their litters) show up on my sims doorsteps.  I keep my yards fenced and gates locked, so suddenly I discover one of my houses is a pet adoption house in the neighbourhood.  I don't want my characters having pets and to have to go to one of their houses now and then to put "four pets up for adoption" one pet at a time, is a waste of my time and their day).  It's happened a few times now.  Can I stop this from happening altogether.  I have other pets in other neighbourhoods and I enjoy them, so I don't want to uninstall pets.  I also don't have many of my own characters in the other hoods, so it's not so much a nuicence.  I've only seen it happen once.  I look forward to any advice.
Thanks Bear

I think this is just part of story progression.  There is no way to turn it off if that family isn't your active household.  Also, you could just go into Edit Town and remove the pets from the family and just not merge them with any new families.  They would delete from the clipboard when you went back into play mode.

Hi RicaLynn,  thanks for responding so quickly.  I never thought of splitting up the pets as family members.  I'll do that.  Should make things easier to live with.  Delete...what a great thing.

I tried to delete them from edit town, using split family but I couldn't move them to the clipboard.  With only taking out the animals the accept check mark is not highlighted.  No action is permitted.  It is also a single character household.  Is there something I'm missing.

I don't think you're missing anything.  The game won't take pets by themselves similar to how it won't take toddlers by themselves.  Another way to delete the unwanted pets is to make the household with pets the active household, turn on testing cheats, then shift-click the pets to delete.  To turn on testing cheats, press shift-ctrl-C then type "testingcheatsenabled true" without the quotes.

thanks.  I'll try that next.  I've had three litters show up in the last 4 hours.  Two at the same household.  Ughhh.  Appreciate the help.

If you don't want to change active households, you can visit them and delete the pets the way Pam said.

Hi LoveSims,  I just saw your message now.  I had the problem licked with the above advice, but I will also apply yours.  Sounds just as easy.  Like it.  With all the glitches in this game, I don't like to ask to much of it.  Staying at one lot is ideal.
Thanks so much everyone.
Bear.
