Adding Stuff Packs
« on: April 27, 2010, 02:05:27 AM »
Hi All. I just played Sims (3) for the first time this week. I think I'm addicted. Didn't need to work, sleep, eat anyway. My question is, why can you not use the object add on packs from Sims 2 in Sims 3? The models in Sims 3 cannot be any more complex. So why not? If they are being saved to a different format in the new game, is there a converter available? It would be good since there is so much already available...and at discount prices as well. Also, is there any way to import your own models into the game? Thanks for any comments.

Welcome to the Forum!  In a nutshell, Sims 3 is just a completely different game from Sims 2.  The developers of the game, Electronic Arts, don't intend for anything from Sims 2 to be used in Sims 3.  It's a whole other world now.  So far, they have released the World Adventures Expansion Pack and the High End Loft Stuff Pack for Sims 3.  The second expansion pack, Ambitions, is due out on June 1, 2010.

They have also put a lot more details into the new furniture and stuff... There is a way you could get the same objects but that involves downloads which is not reccomended by me or the forum, as they may put your computer at risk.  ;)

Thank you for the help. Having never played any Sims game before, I really had no way to compare content from one version to another. The first time I started Sims 3, I stared blankly at the screen wondering what the point was. LOL. It wasn't until I wandered onto this website that I understood. :)

I got the game last summer and it was my first experience with Sims, too.  It can be overwhelming, for sure.  After all these months, I'm still finding new things in the game.
