Lot Sizes For Generic Community Buildings?
« on: March 26, 2012, 09:07:56 AM »
I'm asking about the generic buildings that are available in the build/buy mode when you are on a community lot. Is there a way to find out what lot size is needed for one of those buildings to fit?

I'm trying to add a few lots necessary for some functions in the foreign worlds and sometimes there isn't a lot of room. So I don't want to put a building that would fit on a 30x30 lot on a 60x 60.

This will probably turn out to be a *duh! -slam my head into the desk* moment because there is a really simple answer but I haven't been able to find it.

By "generic buildings", do you mean rabbitholes? If so, I don't know the sizes, but it shouldn't be hard to determine them using Build mode tools. Just place the rabbithole on a large lot and use a fence tool to measure the dimensions around the rabbithole (I'd do it myself, but I should probably get back to my lecture notes, lol).

Yes, those are the ones I'm talking about. Well I guess I know how I'm going to be spending some time.  ;D

These are the rabbithole sizes themselves for the Basegame and Riverview. You need at least one tile around on all sides, I think, and you can mix and match. It hasn't been updated, but it should cut down on your work a bit. You just need to find the closest available lot size for the building, or add your own.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: My mistake, if you go through the thread, it's been updated by other members.

That's a great list! I can definitely see our CAWers finding this useful.

Something to keep in mind is rabbit holes do not have to fit exactly on a lot.  They can overlap the sides of the lot.  Plumbob Backlot usually takes a minimum of a 60x60 lot, but if there are no close neighbors you can actually place it on a lot as small as 30x30.  It will overlap the actual lot but still functions as it is meant to.  This means when you are building a visible shell that might be more attractive than a standard rabbit hole, the rabbit hole can be placed underground in a basement which will overlap and a small building or park can be created in the visible world.  You just need a stairway down to the rabbit hole for it to be used.

What?  Grannies can't play games?

It can go smaller still - I fit it on a 30x15. I don't know how much more smaller than that, but I know it didn't fit on 15x15. Also, they don't have to be placed exactly square either. You can rotate them to a angle to make them fit, too.

Another thing to note: some of the rabbitholes require 2 tiles in front of entries to function.
