Author Topic: Getting Message "A Serious Error Has Occured" / Just installed game  (Read 5445 times)

I know there are TONS of topics and "solutions" already about how to solve the "a serious error has occurred while loading yourworldhere.sims3" but my problem just seems to have no solution.

Everyone else seems to just want to save their world. I, personally, couldn't care less, because I just started playing the game, and when I loaded the game the second time, I got the error. I haven't been playing long enough to have a backup save or anything like that. I've tried reinstalling and it works ONCE, but then when I start up the game again, I get the same message.

The bad part is that I can't even start a new world, because I am met with the same error message. I am getting really frustrated here. If someone has the same problem, or could help with this, if you would reply that would be great!

Okay so let me get this straight. This is happening when you go into the came period? What expansion packs do you have and what patch level do you have installed?

To add to what Nicky has asked, could you also please tell us all the steps you've taken from the other threads that you've seen.

As you said, there are several other threads already about saving files with other members and there is a high possibility our only answers could be the same ones found in those threads.

Just so you know - I also changed the name of this thread to help direct the right people here to hopefully resolve this issue.

Well, the game loads and everything the first time after I either install it, or delete all of the files in my "save" folder. The second time I try to select my world, though, it gives me the error message. Also, I have no expansion packs and my patch level is 1.29.

I have tried disabling my antivirus program, I would have tried renaming the backup file and actual game file (but I couldn't because I didn't actually have a backup file). And  I have tried deleting the cache files.

Since you just have the base game it might be worth reinstalling it after you have loaded a few programs to defrag your hard drive, cured junk files or eat cookies. And more of those standard things.
Might be there was something wrong during your first installation. Happens to me once.

Zaalst - I would also suggest patching up to 1.33 completely as well.  Do you use mods or CC?

No, I don't use any mods or Custom Content. I literally just installed the game on this computer when it started doing this. Also, I am in the process of patching my game, but my internet is horribly slow, so it's going to take like the whole night. XD

Are you on a Mac, zaalst?  This seems to be a very common error on some Macs. 

If you are on a Mac, make sure that you have deleted your preferences from when you uninstalled.  Instructions are on this site.

Another cause could be a corrupted CurrenGame.sims3 folder, or files inside the folder. This folder stores files in use by your game as it's running. There are some steps on the Sims Wiki site that can help.

I started running into this problem last night on my game, but so far it's been behaving itself (mostly) today...
