WA: Sim Missing After Return from Vacation
« on: March 08, 2012, 08:48:56 PM »
I sent two married Sims to Egypt where they completed that tomb that gives you the Eyes of Horus (which is of course super cool), but only one of them returned. He (and the Eyes of Horus) is completely missing--he is not even listed as a member of my family anymore. I can see his face, all greyed out, in his wife's list of "friends," but I can't call him because the game won't let her use her phone at all. Apart from that, she seems fairly unharmed. I had saved the game mid-vacation, but when I return to that point and try to end the trip early, the same thing happens.

Something similar to this occurred to me months ago--a Sim married the Special Merchant from China, but when she returned he was no longer a member of the family and she had lost all the stuff she had found and the vacation home she had just purchased. Reloading the game to an earlier save point was again fruitless. Eventually I just accepted his loss, and did not experience any more problems until just now.

If you have any idea why this is happening to me, or what I can do about it, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

It is a known bug and sadly nothing you can do beyond going back to an earlier save.

Twallan's Mods - I think it is the Traveller mod - at Nraas can help prevent it happening again.

Crinrict talks about it here:  http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/03/bug-missing-sims-and-empty-ui-when-arriving-in-vacation-town.html

I can't remember exactly but if you want to marry vacation sims, I think it is best to invite them to your home and marry them there.

Thanks. It's a shame to have lost my guy, but at least I can know I did my due diligence by him.
