My Sim's Heads are Flying Off of Their Bodies
« on: April 16, 2010, 09:41:49 AM »
Whenever a sim is too big or too small their heads don't align with their bodies or their clothes just don't show up on their body. o_0 I don't get what's wrong, the disc has no scratches, my computer says there's no issue with sims. I've never had any problem with my game other than this. Has anyone else experienced this? How do you fix it?

Do you have any mods installed, Becca?

Very well. Maybe you could post a picture of the problem? This may help us to solve your problem.

Hi, sorry I took so long. Here are the pics:

1. This is one of my pregnant sims: http://i41.tinypic.com/140vww3.jpg ......As you can see the head and the body are not normal.

2. Another View of the unaligned body: http://i43.tinypic.com/34627eu.jpg ......It's really creepy o_0. This is the same pregnant sim by the way.

3. Ok, this is a different sim who just had her baby: http://i41.tinypic.com/v3qgw6.jpg o_o.

Now this problem not only happens with pregnant sims, but it happens with sims that are too big, too muscular, too skinny, too anything really. I've tried resetting them but nothing helps.

Have you tried to change your graphics settings? Maybe you've got a too high detail level; even very advanced computers can have difficulties with certain games depending on how they're programmed.

Hi becca.

Along with Swede's suggestion, I'm also wondering if you have downloaded anything from the Sims 3 Exchange.  Maybe clothing or a house?  Sometimes there are odd things in those downloads that can cause the distortion that we see on your Sims.  You said you don't have any mods, but what about third party custom content?  This would be clothing, hairstyles, etc. that you download from a website other than the official Sims 3 site.  These downloads are very bad about causing distortion.  If you have any of this stuff, I'd recommend that you remove it from your game.

Also, check to see if your computer meets all of the specifications for running the game properly.  Many times, a computer's graphics card isn't sufficient to run the game the way it's supposed to.  I've got a pretty nice and powerful desktop computer and I had to upgrade the graphics card for the game to run right.

The last thing I can suggest is reinstalling the game.  It would be best if you don't try to keep your existing game files because that's where the problems might be.  It's a good idea to reinstall the game periodically anyway just to give it a fresh start from time to time.  Carl, Metro, and I normally reinstall the game when an expansion pack or a stuff pack is released.  It's just a good time to wipe everything clean and get updated for all the new content.

I hope that something here helps with your problem.  Keep us posted on how it goes.  :)
