Semi invisible pet fur
« on: December 28, 2011, 03:30:09 AM »
I know this is all over the web, but my dogs and cats on Sims 3 pets have a layer of semi invisible fur.
I have read other forums and people are saying " I cant wait untill a patch comes out to fix this problem."

Here is an image from another forum.

What I was wondering is what is a patch and how will I get it if and when it comes out?

Thanks.  :)

I had to remove the image because it's not yours and we don't have permission from the real owner to use it.  If you have an image from your own game that you'd like to share, that would be fine.

It may be something that will be fixed in a patch.  If you use the launcher to start the game, you'll get a notification there that an update (patch) is available and it will ask if you want to download it.  They don't come out very often, usually at the same time an expansion or stuff pack comes out, and about once or twice between packs.

It may also be an issue with your graphics card.  If you'd like to provide more information, we'll be happy to see if we can help.

A patch is a game update that is released by EA to fix previous glitches or bugs in the current version of the game. You'll recieve a notification when you launch the game that an update is available for download followed by would you like to update it.

You can also manually check for patches when you launch the game if you click on the last option, which should be updates and click refresh.

Thanks guys. I now know what patches are and mine notifiy my when there is an update.

I wouldn't have a clue what graphics card I have, but people with even some of the best graphics cards are having this issue.

And sorry, don't know how to load my own photos up.

I know I'm pretty late with an answer to this issue but it may be useful for others.
I only recently installed Pets, and in CAS I also noticed the semi invisible fur. I thought I did something wrong with creating the fur.
In game it looked horrible and I found it very annoying.
So I tried to find a solution.
I have the sims running on a new laptop with an NVidia graphics card.
I went to the settings for this graphics card and selected "use high graphics from NVidia card" or something like that and then selected the sims game. After that the issue was solved.
It turned out to be the graphic card settings!

(my apologies for the terrible translation of the computer functions, English is my second language :S)

I do hope this may help some of you with this issue.

I'll have to try it tomorrow. It not only happens with the fur for me but also the tail... You can see right through them when the tail disappears.

I get this too even after I installed the Pets patch, changing the settings on my graphics card helps but it comes back the next time I play, it's annoying.  >:( I think it might be my graphics card, it has given me trouble before, in spite of this laptop being less than a year old, even though I bought it for gaming, I only got the minium specs required.
