Invisible Sims
« on: April 15, 2010, 04:56:28 PM »
I recently had a Code 12 Error while trying to save my game.  Thankfully I had saved not long before, so I didn't loose much game time, no big deal.  But then when I reloaded my previous save all my sims are now invisible!  I tried going into cheats and doing resetsim on them, but that didn't do the trick.  Any other ideas I could try?  This is my generation 7 legacy, so I really don't want to start over.  :(

I have had sims who are temporarily invisible... but they load into full view after a while, maybe using a back-up save will save your legacy?

Yeah, I let the game sit for a while on pause in the hopes that they would eventually load up.  No such luck.

I'm not really sure how to load up a previous save.  Is there a link on how to do that somewhere here on the forums?

Nevermind, I found where it shows how to load an old saved game. :)  Off to see if that works. :)

All right AriaGirl. Is it only the sims in your own controlled household that are invisible? If it is so I would recommend moving them with Edit Town (this may work since the problem may be related to your error code 12 - the world-cache bug; often this is related with Edit Town in some way). I'm aware that you're playing a legacy so that may be banned by standard rules, but at least it's worth to see if it works just quickly (i.e. not saving after moving the household and then just re-load if it doesn't work).

PS: Try to recover an earlier save first before you do anything else.

This happened to me just today.  I had a toddler and an adult invisible.  All I did was restart the game and everything was fine.  I think it sort of overloaded the memory or something.

Often the cause of error code 12 is an overload of the world cache, which has been set to quite little in the game. So it's definitely possible that you got either from playing a long time or doing massive playing like constructing an enormous mansion without turning the game off and on in time.

I went back into the game and thought I'd give it one more try before I went to all that trouble.  When I opened the neighborhood everything worked just fine!  *WHEW!*
