I have too many people in my family as of late...
« on: March 08, 2012, 06:16:20 PM »
First of all, hello; I am new to the forum, long time Simmer (more than twelve years) and have just started to play the Sims3 again after a break.
The problem in hand:
My Sim went to the tomb of the Burning Sands. When she returned, the person she was supposed to deliver the flame fruit to, stood on the bridge between the pyramids and the base camp. Problem was, so were loads of others, who, as I realised, couldn't get off the bridge somehow. Needless to say they had been stuck there for all the time my Sim was in the Pyramid and were having a terrible time. I then tried using the cheat "build on this plot" in combo with "moveobjects on" to move the people, but apparently , since it wasn't a lot but general landscape,  I couldn't build or remove them at all. I then opted for the "add to active family", added them, teleported them off the bridge and sent them home, by then I realised they were all fellow travellers from the camp.

I can't remove them any more. There is no option. I now have 6 extra people in my family and no idea how to get rid of them at all. Please help?

When you get home, have someone choose "move" on the phone or computer. You can move them all at once, or one at a time. Have them choose "kick out", and it won't cost you anything.

In future, you can use "testingcheatsenabled true" then "resetsim *" to get rid of sims who get stuck on the bridge.

thank you for your quick reply :) If I "move" them out of my home, will they return to their respective neighbourhoods? these are chinese and french people whom I've already made friends with in their neighbourhoods. I hope they won't end up in Sunset Valley as townies!

thanks for the other tip too, I was using TCE; but I didn't see a "reset Sim" option, where and how would I find it please?

press control, shift & c, then type "resetsim *" (omit quotes), or resetsim Firstname Lastname.

It's a bit late for that advice:  they've already been added to her family.

Once you added them to the active family, they became denizens of Sunset Valley.  If you move them out, they won't return to their respective countries.  However, they'll still be your friends in town.

Unless there's a backup save of the game before the Sims were moved into the household.

It's not necessary to have testing cheats turned on for ResetSim.

Also, if you are ever looking for any other cheats, simply do ctrl +alt + c  and type in help :)

thanks for all your answers. I decided to reload, do my tomb again, and reset the sims. I'm surprised though that the bridge bug hasn't been adressed in a patch yet, can I be the only one with a faulty bridge? I have to reset sims now every time I go to Egypt, there's no getting off that bridge apparently.
