Weekly Event Chess Tournament question

Hey all. The only weekly event i'm missing for the challenge that has you going to all the events is the chess tournament. Is there anyway to make it show up, and better yet is there a specific day that it show's up?

You know how you use the newspaper to check weekly events? There's one where you are suppose to go play at a chess tournament or something like that. I can't get it to show up.

Do you mean the special opportunity to participate in the chess tournament in the park?

I don't usually read the Sim paper, but if you go to map view during the day there will often be the star to mark the opportunity. If you just go to the park while that star is there, you'll be given the opportunity.

What I said relates to The Sims 3 on PC, so it may be different for the console game.

Yeah. For the PC, it appears on Tuesday afternoons. Console may be different.

I don't usually go to these town events, mainly because I don't read the newspapers. But it does work if you want to check what's going on in the town, even on the console.

On the console version, you can read the newspapers weekly events. The change every week and it's random on which event will happen on that week. On Sundays, the weeky events on the newspaper are updated.

Is still the same for the console EXCEPT it's not a star. The Community lots where these events are usually held will have a glowing circle around them (the outline of the button will glow). I haven't had a chance to participate in that event yet but I think you need at least 1 logic skill to activate that event when visiting the lot. I remember trying once and at the time I didn't have a logic skill and I waited on the lot till nightfall and it never appeared. So try it with a logic skill and see if it appears

Ambiesboy, I'm having the exact same problem!  It's the only one I'm missing!  I don't think this event shows up on the newspaper like the rest of them did.  I actually remember, before I knew I needed this challenge done, that an opportunity came up for one of my sims to watch a chess match with "Argyle Sinclair" at the bookstore.  Like the idiot I am I declined it, thinking I didn't need to do it.  And it came up several times, too!  Each time I declined it because I was worried about getting something else done.  So, I think that's what we need to wait for.  I've been trying to get one of my newer sims to get this opportunity (she's already a chess grand master) but it won't come up!  I think I declined it too many times.  So beware declining opportunities!  And hopefully it'll show up for you!  Let me know if you get it done and I'll let you know if I get it!  Thanks
