Townies eating Ambrosia?
« on: September 25, 2010, 11:05:18 PM »
So I am wondering if anyone knows if some of the Townies eat Ambrosia? Even if you aren't playing them and never have. I am in Twinbrook working on a challenge and one of my Sims is in the cooking career and is level 10. Well at first the boss was Mary Baker then she retired so no it is Anna-Liza (don't remember her exact whole name) and many times it has come up that she is not going to live forever or whatever they thing is saying to visit. Well based on past experience with this after that notice comes up they usually only live for a couple more days then you get the notice that they died. Well for Anna-Liza she doesn't die ever. I just keep on getting the one where she won't live forever. She I just assume she is eating Ambrosia but I never heard of the Townies doing that? Anyone have this happen? For the record I am playing on long game length and the notice comes every like 5 days or more.

I had this happen once with Gunther Goth.  I got messages for ages saying he was about to die.  He lived for at least two, maybe three, generations.  I wondered if he was eating Ambrosia, too, but there's no way to really prove this.  It's probably just a glitch in the game.

Good to know that I am not the only one who has experienced this. It is the first time I have seen anything like it before. Wondering if she dies if I will get to be the boss. Hehe! But I have never seen that happen either even if you own the place? Odd! But in this case I don't own it since it is a challenge and it's not allowed.

I had that happen before! I forget his name, but for like 2 weeks straight (sim time) I got that notice he was going to die every night after midnight! Finally he did, but I even went around town, looking for Life Fruit plants cause I thought he was eating them, but I couldn't find any!

I'm currently experiencing this in my Dynasty game.  Eliza Bollinger, who I nearly had Beta marry (gen 2), is still alive and kicking!  Pretty amazing since I'm now on gen 4, and the reason why I didn't have her marry Beta was because she was an Adult, and he was Young Adult.  Guess I should have risked it with her!  Beta's wife is looong gone!

The "Townie is about to die" message does not mean death is imminent; instead, what it means is that death (from old age) is possible.  Each day, every Sim that has run out of days to live has a small chance of dying that day.  The game rolls the dice, and if the roll comes up scythes, then you die today; if the roll comes up lifefruit then you live another day.

It's possible, albeit obviously increasingly improbable, for a Sim to live for a very long time after they've filled their age bar.  The "Townie is about to die" message just indicates that that townie's age bar is full.

Of course, Sims can die from the Story Bus at any time, but that's a different issue.

Really? Normally when I get that message, they die that day! Except for that one guy! Yesterday I was playing and it said Bessie Clavell was going to die and then my guy was playing for tips in front of the theater and who walks up but Bessie! I was like OH NO! Sure enough, She died and interrupted my playing! Grim didn't stick around and give me a tip though, I was kinda hoping for it but it didn't happen lol.

I have noticed a number of sims dying in my sims' presence - far more than you would expect from random chance.  I once had an opportunity to deliver something to Anna-Lize, and as soon as I gave it to her, she croaked.  Now, maybe the opportunity was keeping her alive, but a number of other sims have died immediately or shortly after visiting my sims, or my sims visiting them.

Whether it's a bug or something else, it makes me wonder if showing up somehow does something to the odds.

Please don't send your sims over to visit me or my sims, ok?  ;)
