Money trees not counting towards gardening Career?

Is this a glitch or am I doing it wrong? It seems like I've read elsewhere that money trees are supposed to count towards your gardening career. Each day my sim goes out and tends her garden (The only sim who gardens) and pulls in nearly 12k off the money trees, but the money doesn't count towards her career?

Am I just selling them wrong? I usualy click on the bag and choose the option to turn them in for money. Getting a little antsy and hoping it's not a bug. My sim is already an elder and I'm still 25K from maxing her career (immortal destiny.)

You should drag and sell money bags in inventory to count it for the career. I had the same issue and was very very happy to find the solution
