Fertilizing ?
« on: February 08, 2012, 05:18:59 PM »
I just planted A tomato plant and then watered it but now there is nothing to do with it. Do I just have to wait to water it again or do I have to fertilize it? How do you fertilize?

Welcome to our Forum, Clairebear.

The ability to fertilize comes at level 3.  Weeding comes at level 2.  You can increase your gardening skill by reading skill books, taking a class, or by planting more seeds.  One tomato plant won't give you any real experience because you just have to water it every day.  If you plant more seeds/fruit, your Sim will take more time taking care of them and will gain skill points faster.

You can also visit McGregor's Garden community lot and work on your gardening skill by tending and harvesting the crops there. Free money to be made if you harvest there and then sell at the supermarket.

When you take the gardening class, they give a few seeds too. The common ones I think are apple, grape, tomato and lettuce. I learned that after you harvest a plant get rid of it and replant the actual fruit or veggie. This will produce higher quality plants. For instance replanting a nice apple will give you very nice apple and so on.  But you have to take care of your plants and keep raising your skill.
