Auto Stocking Inventory - there has to be an easier way...

I have a question - is there ANY way at all to "auto stack" fruit/food by rating? My Sim is a level 10 green thumb gardener. She has reached her lifetime goal of planting 8 perfect plants. She has a TON of seeds in her inventory. Here's my problem. She has for example 49 garlic. Not all of them are perfect. For some reason, when she harvests from her garden, the game just auto stacks by type, not by category which really is annoying me. The only way I've noticed that I can tell what is what is by going to the grocery store and going to the sell screen and scrolling through each one. What's more, is that instead of listing for example garlic very nice, excellent, etc down the line, it just does it garlic, then grapes, then maybe 10 lines down there is more garlic!

Why not list each item - garlic good, very good then grapes, then steaks etc in sequential order?? It's very annoying to try to keep track of what I have and what I can sell!!

I know I'm a dork!  I just like things to be in logical order not all willy nilly!! Am I going to have to manually pull out each one then stack them myself??? OCD I tell ya!!

Hi Bogie!

If I understand your question correctly, I think the game already does what you want.  When you go into your Sim's inventory, you'll see a triangle shape in the upper left corner of the pictures for multiple items.  It looks sort of like the corner is folded down.  Click that triangle corner and the stack will open so that you can see each item individually.  They will be sorted from best to worst and it's pretty easy to select which ones you want to sell, plant, etc.

OMG THANK YOU!! ok, let me just tell you what a complete idiot I am. I only just got this game so I'm still getting used to all these new features, but ok now this is just FUNNY...

I got so frustrated because I didn't know about that little corner thingy.. so I paused the game, went into my inventory, and took 49 pieces of cheese and put them in rows in the backyard..looking for likenesses... OMG... then I stacked each one individually myself..what made me write the post was that my Sim has 4 kids, and needless to say she was tired and didn't make it to the store to sell all her stuff, so when she harvested again all my stacks were messed up!! 

OMG what an idiot I am!! HAHAHAHA!!

Can you imagine coming home and finding rows and rows of cheese in your backyard???

You're very welcome!  And don't feel bad about doing silly things.  I promise, most of us have done the very same things.  It took me ages to figure out about the corner thingy and I once spread at least 30 apples on the floor looking for the one "bad" one that I needed to plant.  We're here to help and share things we've learned about the game, so feel free to ask us if you get stuck on anything.

I didn't notice that corner for a long time either. I have never lined things up on the floor though.

Oh and you can also pull the whole stack by the corner.
So if for the sake of your OCD you want only one stack of garlic, pull one on top of the other and they merge.

What I left off was that not only did I do that for the 49 pieces of cheese, but I also did it for my garlic (38), tomatos (52), and onions (14) ...

All I have to say is ARRGGHHHHH 

She started to harvest, and I was busy watching Dad interact with the kids, and I saw that and shouted "NOOOOOOOO!!!! "
