No problem, I think it was actually a patch that took away that feature of repairing salvaged items.

To my knowledge, it hasn't changed.  The last time I tried to call a repairman to repair a salvaged item, he wouldn't do it.  We're probably stuck with this, or maybe this is how EA meant for it to be from the beginning.

Thanks for the replies - I appreciate the input.

I would love to see the "Handy" Sim be able to repair these items - as it stands now there is no reason to ever collect them. I use to love to collect, repair and either use or sell. It was a super way to get new items for the home!

Salvaged items were never intended to be repaired at all.  They are there to be blown up.  How else are you going to complete the Diabolical Detonator challenge without getting your sims fined into the poor house.

Like Hosfac said, the salvaged items are there for you to detonate. I have used salvaged items but it really doesn't make any difference.

I was playing yesterday and actually found a working phone on the ground of the junkyard.  I found that pretty cool.  I've also found usable stuff in the junk piles too.

I too think it's a shame that a handy sim can't build their skills repairing the discarded furniture.  It would have been a nice way to earn money if a sim wanted to work from home.  I guess I lack the fun gene but I don't like blowing things up even in a game. ;D  It just seems so wasteful. :P

Not to mention you can get publicly disgraced for blowing stuff up if you are a celebrity.

So I figured out that if you find the same item from a junk yard and replace it over and over the more times you replace it the cheaper it gets. So Idk if it will necessarily ever be free to replace because I haven't gotten that many of the same items over and over but yeah, hope that helps. :)

Welcome to the forum, calkazak!  That's interesting information about replacing items from the junk yard - I've never heard of them becoming cheaper to replace.  Do you have any numbers to share with us to give us an idea of how much cheaper it gets?
