Hunger pang sounds
« on: March 26, 2010, 01:06:52 PM »
I'm finishing up with my guitar walkthrough character and he and his wife are in France. They planted a tent on the open 2nd floor of the General Goods store. The general goods merchant has not left her post since my couple showed up. And she's making awful low moans and has the hunger bubble above her head. These are different sounds than the typical hunger sounds I've heard before — the first ones you hear. Could she actually be starving? If a Sim gets progressively more hungry do the sounds change? I threw some dried food right at her feet and she wouldn't pick it up. I'm wondering if by camping out in her store if we're somehow locking her to that lot and preventing her from leaving. Any thoughts?

I would have thougth they would go home when the till closes, but obviosly not. Maybe just putting the tent outside for a day so she can go and get some food would be nice for her!

Hm, you could resetsim on her and see if that works.

I've stayed at the nectary a lot and the guy who works there eventually does go to the fridge and eat and he goes upstairs to sleep and pee and stuff.

Yeah, I don't want to see her croak. Talk about a downer for a vacation! I put the tent in Inventory and am staying at the base camp for the last couple of days.

I've seen some of the Sims in Egypt standing at the till being extremely sleepy, to the point of passing out, but so far I haven't seen any of them really hungry.

Although the tills definitely don't close, cause whenever I had an adventure with one of the merchants they were there in the middle of the night to welcome me after tomb-raiding.

It's sort of an odd thing with those merchants.  They are at the store 24 hours a day, whenever you need them.  But if you put your tent right there and sleep for 8 hours, they get extreme in their sleepiness and hunger.  It's like if you're right there watching, they won't eat or sleep.  But if you don't stay there any longer than the time it takes to buy stuff and have some conversations, it's fine.  Also, I've seen merchants getting food from the food merchant, so they really don't have to starve.  I still pitch my tent in the market because I'm never there longer than the 8 hours of sleeping and that's not long enough for anyone to actually starve.

I remember when I was in China exploring the tomb under the market that the shop keepers would sometimes wander down into the tomb and get stuck.  I'd have to reset them to get them to "go home" so they wouldn't die.

If you're just wanting to sleep in the tent, as I often do for the "sleeps like a king/queen" moodlet, you can always set it up in the yard of the base camp.

It's almost like camping in the backyard!

I had this problem once. They didn't starve, but they passed out on the floor and yelled at me because they didn't have a shower for days. It was quite funny!
