How to make stairs with a halfway landing.

Actually, this was talked about some time ago and I posted similar pictures here. They are not as good as these, but it was the similar idea.

Oh wow, I hadn't seen that one Anushka. And I do like that it was done without cheats too. I do hope you don't feel like I was stealing your idea, I know I had mentioned doing something on advanced stairs to Carl some time ago but I didn't do it straight away, then when I was doing it and almost ready to send it to him, Zap posted this thread and I thought 'oh dear, he'll think I stole his idea!'

I'm sorry, this is really awful XD but it's the best I can do, drawing's not my strong point. It illustrates my question though.

I'm pretty sure you can do this stair as well, here is the picture that I've build the stair as you said, and of course, my sim can use it like normal stair, nothing wrong with it, I can confirm that .

But how would you do this on a higher level floor?  For instance, you have the max five floors, and you add items to the roof.  Can't add the walls to put in an elevator, so you need stairs.  Could you add the U or L shaped stairs in to the fifth to roof top level?

yes, you can, but you'll lose (at least) 5x5 blocks at the roof's floor (these blocks need to place stair)

P.s: and to make this possible, you'll need another method (not this method that Zapkid used). I'll make a tut about this if needed .

To do it on a higher level, you would need to build a tower outside the building (lowering the ground for the tower first) and use the CFE cheat like in the U shaped tutorial on this page. You just need to build the outside control tower 5 floors high too.
Plus as Yarakisagoa said, you will loose some roof (4x4 ) over the stairs that you won't be able to cover.
