Getting Rid Of "Untrainable" Trait in Horses?
« on: January 13, 2012, 10:09:33 PM »
Hi, I'm just wondering how to get rid of the "untrainable" trait in my horses...I adopted a foal with that trait, and she just turned into an adult, but one of my mares had a foal that gained it as well...but I want to be able to breed/sell my horses and so I'm hoping I can find out how to train them to get rid of it and sell them for more...

Thanks!

Hi ditzyscrap and welcome to the forum! All foals are born with this trait, at least in my experience.  You get rid of it by having a sim ride the horse until you get a notice saying the horse has lost the trait. If my sim devotes a majority of her time to the task, she can train the horse in about two sim days. I hope this helps you.

Thanks! I figured it would be a lot of mounting/leading to get rid of it...that's ok, I'll focus on that.  :)

I've tried leading without any success, so I now assume you only get rid of it by riding.

I've not used it yet, but is there not a LTR to change a trait for pets?  Admittedly, it would be tough for a young pet to earn enough points to purchase it right away upon maturing into an adult, so your way is surely faster, Moons, but just another option (I think.)

All foals are born with the Untrained trait.  I don't think you can get rid of it until their old enough to ride.  Anyway, Leading my foals didn't seem to have any effect on the Untrained trait, but leading adults for the first time since Ageing Up showed it going down a little. However, standing around with the horse on a lead all day seemed boring.

But I always just Mount them, and Gallop over to the Equestrian Center, and "practice jumping" on the Calavetti Trainer course - it trains them, while building Jumping and Racing skills for the horse, and Riding skill for the rider all at once!  Very effective.
Check out my app "Equestrian Center - Horse Guide for The Sims 3:Pets" for iPhone and iPad. Everything you need to know to adopt, befriend, train, breed, and sell your horses. All about Unicorns too! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/equestrian-center-horse-guide/id482247698?mt=8&uo=4
