I'm New to the Forum... How do you build a gate to keep paparazzi out?

Help please... I've seen on multiple forums that you should build an electric fence w/ a callbox and gate... But how do you do that?

Hi MattJon, welcome to the forum.

There is a large gate with a callbox that is part of the Late Night EP - you find it with the other gates in build mode.

I don't know of any electric fences - I think any of the fences that would accommodate the gate with callbox would work just fine at keeping unwanted visitors out as long as the fence extends around the entire perimeter of your sim's property.

You could also use any old gate and lock it to everyone but your sim's family.

Whether you use the gate with the callbox or just a regular gate that is locked against everyone but the household, it will keep out everyone, not just the paparazzi.  You will need to open/unlock the gate to let in all the NPCs and visiting sims that you want to have access to your sim's property.  Perhaps there is a simple way to do this that I'm not aware of, but I find it so tiresome that I just deal with the paparazzi - it's just easier.

If you have a visitor I think you get an option come up to let them in or not, but only if they buzz to be let in. Papz don't buzz so they're left outside waiting for your sims to come to them. Not a problem if you have a Miner and tunnel network though...

You also need to know that you can't put the fence and gate right on the property line and have the gate be able to be locked.  Why that is I don't know.  The big gate with the call box you have to either do a jog in the fence back 3 or 4 spaces , then make a line of fence across and then put in the gate.  It's at least 2 spaces back for other gates.  I hate having the paps bother my Sims so I usually have locked gates.

You don't have to unlock for repairmen, firemen, police and maids. They just walk in.

To clear up any confusion.

The large, call box, gate which comes with Late Night is different from any other gate because you can make that gate your front door.  This means that the newspaper delivers out there and I have my mailbox outside the gate as well.  Since it functions like a front door, the paparazzi are held there as long as you have a fence extending around the entire property.  However, NPC's can use it just like your front door and access the house.  That gate requires two squares away from the property line to place. 

The normal gates can also be used to lock out Paparassi by locking it to all in your household.  However, this will also lock out NPC's like repairmen, maids, etc.

Are you sure Npcs will get locked out?  I'm fairly certain they still can get in.  Once, I had a maid and locked the only outside door and the maid still got in.  Doors and gates may be different though.

NPC Sims don't get locked out, they can freely pass through the celeb gates.
