Can Celebrities lose their stars?

I have been playing Bridgeport for a long time and today was the first time I saw Richie Stricker as a 3-star celeb instead of his usual 4-star. I could have sworn that when my sim met him he was a 4-star (hence she rapidly increased to a 5-star). Then she went to China and married Liang Yat Sen. By marrying her Liang became a 4-star. So, I couldn't understand why Richie wanted Liang's autograph, until I scanned on Richie and he only was a 3-star.

Maybe going to China glitched it?

He definitely should be a 4-star celebrity (I checked Sims Wiki). It sounds like a glitch to me, since I've never known anyone in my games to lose any of their stars.

He stayed a 3-star in that game and never went higher even after becoming best friends with my 5-star. Pity it wasn't Lola who lost the star, because she gets on my nerves.
