Extra Painting Actions Added Via Art Appraiser Career

I apologize if this has been posted in the forums before, but I made a discovery that I don't think is in the Guide while I was playing my ghost artist the other day. She had just reached level 6 in the Art Appraiser career. The promotion notification said that there was something called "Advanced Art Training" at her workplace. So, I got curious and sent her there. I received an opportunity to create a painting and deliver it back to work. Technically, it was a work opportunity, but it didn't have a deadline like other work opportunities do. I had her create a large painting and take it in. There was another opportunity after that, which required a painting above a certain value. Playing with a ghost sim, it was pretty easy to get there, since the death bonus for paintings is immediately applied. After that opportunity was finished, this notification popped up:



At first, I just thought it was weird, and kept going with my Advanced Art Training. The opportunities had me paint a brilliant, and then a "masterpiece" painting (The opportunity said a painting over $1500, and it didn't have to be considered masterpiece.) After that, the opportunity chain ended. And now, when my sim clicks on the easel, this is what it looks like:



So, my painter sim can now paint guaranteed masterpieces. 

I thought it was pretty cool for artist sims. But, University is required, along with a max Rebel influence to unlock the career.

Wow, that's really interesting, blackforest!  I used to play a lot of painters and haven't had one now in some time, but what a wonderful new addition to that skill!  Thank you for sharing this information.

The 'paint at any level you've reached' is probably because some paintings are linked to particular skill levels and can no longer be painted at a higher level.  In fact, I seem to remember someone saying that if they're left part-painted for long enough, so that the artist's skill's gone up a lot in the meantime, they can't be finished - but it looks as though that's no longer completely true and all of the paintings are available again after completing this opportunity.  Can you click on the number and chose a particular painting?

And guaranteed masterpieces?  I can see a lot of art appraisers appearing in dynasties from now on  .

I'm kind of annoyed that it still doesn't unlock the ability to do masterpiece portraits at will, but I used the information in this thread to unlock the new painting actions for my art appraiser and now he gets to paint regular masterpiece paintings all day.

My Sim doesn't seem able to unlock the ability to paint masterpiece paintings at will.  She gets to the level of unlocking brilliant paintings and continues doing the opportunities until they end, but the masterpiece option never happens for her.  I've tried her in a couple of different towns with no luck.  Even though she has painted masterpiece paintings and delivered them for the opportunities, she has never unlocked the ability to paint masterpieces at will.  It's not a major problem for me, but I'd sure like to know why this is happening.  Anyone have any ideas about this?  I'm wondering if this is a glitch of some sort in my game or if others are also having this issue.

Do you need to be in a specific track for the 'Advanced Art Training' or do both tracks in the Art Appraiser Career enable the paint brilliant/masterpiece paintings at will?

I've done both tracks and I've gotten Advanced Art Training both times.

The rewards for the Advanced Art Training opportunities are permanent hidden traits so you'll retain the ability to create Brilliant and Masterpiece paintings at will even if you quit your job.
