Something Wrong With the Pool
« on: March 22, 2010, 01:09:19 AM »
I went to the community pool at Sunset Valley for a swim when I noticed that the pool looked weird.
There were no pool ladders and I couldn't see beneath the water. When my Sim got in the pool, he disappeared like this:

In the image above, my Sim is actually in the pool. I went down a floor level and the pool became like this with my Sim visible:

Keep in mind that this happens to all pools in my game. What in the world is wrong with my pool?!

Hi Moutblade98 and welcome to our Forum!

A couple of questions.  Do you have World Adventures installed?  Have you pools always been like this?  Did it start when you installed WA?

I had this same issue and it was caused by not having a powerful enough video card in my computer.  I knew it wasn't up to snuff because of the delays and crashes I was experiencing.  But when I installed WA, the pools were all messed up like yours are.  When I purchased and installed the right video card, it all went away and the game looks even more awesome than I imagined.  So, check the game specifications against your computer's video card and see if that's the problem.

I had it before WA was installed, my current guess is you are patched beyond WA like I was and had to downgrade the game to install the WA because of patches, I stayed away from pools until I got WA.

You need to turn on enhanced rendering in game options, from the menu. I couldn't because it crashed my game, see for yourself if your gfx card is good enough.

Well, I followed Justine's advice since it was the simplest, and it worked! Without any crashing and whatnot.
Now all the pools look like normal and everything is now super shiny and detailed, but with some slowing down. That's alright, though. Thanks Justine!

:] Easy if you've got the right gfx card. I'm stuck with dark-blue pools.

The funny thing is, it worked with Vanilla Sims, it only started after VA.

My pleasure, glad to be of service.

Do you have WA? Because it's something to do with the changes of graphics with the basements which need higher specs if you don't have the WA.

Yep, I have WA and sure as heck am not going to uninstall it since nectar making and martial arts and vacation spots are so much fun!

It must be something in your Graphics Options doing it, I had this when I was well patched after WA came out.
