Button in Edit Town - what does it do?
« on: November 21, 2011, 07:19:57 PM »
I need a little help please.
I'm helping Carl by doing an article on Edit Town and so far so good, but.. I have no idea what one of the buttons does.
It says 'Unhide all hidden installed content'  Now I can understand that it's revealing something that was hidden, but what exactly and how do we hide content. Keeping in mind that this is in Edit Town, so all the content that is listed is either sims or lots.
I've clicked the button,  but nothing happens. I had clicked the button that shows custom content only and thought it might reverse that action (which is actually reversed by just clicking it a second time) but no, it didn't do anything.
So I'm really at a loss as to what this button does.
Anyone know?

Little extra information.

I've been doing some searching, trying to find an answer and I've discovered that apparently (with Ambitions) we got the ability to hide individual content in the library.  Now, I'm not sure if it's my game or if some update has changed it, but I don't have the option to hide things.
I found a thread about it on NeighborlySims3 and there is a photo showing the hide content button. I don't seem to have that button.. does anyone else have or not have it? I've posted the pic in a reply.

Are you aware of the Run Without Custom Content option on the launcher?  If you click on your custom content button, you can check that.  Is it possible that button undoes that action to allow you to view your CC?

I had thought that it might be to do with that option to rum without custom content, but it seems to make no difference if you have custom content enabled or not.
This seems to be the ability to hide individual sims (or households) or lots. If you look at the image in the neighborly sims forum, there is a button to hide items, but instead of the hide button, all I have is a delete button. I just wondered if at some point after they implemented this with Ambitions, they may have reversed it. That's why I wanted to know if other people had the hide button or if there is something crazy going on with my game.

I copied the picture so people wouldn't have to go somewhere else.

This is the button that I want to know if people have or don't have. (in the red circle on the right)

That button looks familiar, next time I boot up the game, I'll be sure to tell you if I have it.

OK, I feel really, really silly now :-[  I honestly thought I'd selected EA created sims and lots as well as user created ones. Obviously in all the times I selected something, not once did I select an EA lot or sim.
So yes, I do have that button after all. At least now I can say what it does lol

Sorry folks.. nothing left to see here.
