Pregnant Sims Harder to Keep Happy?
« on: November 02, 2011, 03:54:33 PM »
Has anyone noticed that since the pre-Pets patch it seems harder to keep pregnant female sims happy enough to allow you to select both traits for the nooboo?  Before the patch it seemed like all you had to do was keep the needs bar above the notch and you would get to pick both traits.  Since the patch all my nooboos have had 1 randomly assigned trait even though I kept the momma just as happy as before the patch.

I just had a Sim have a baby in AP, and was allowed to pick both traits.  Of course, I typically randomize traits anyways.  :P

I've had no problem with keeping my sim at elated during her pregnancy and was able to chose traits.

For what it's worth, my 2 sim pregnancies since installing pets have let me pick both traits.

Mine has let me pick both traits, as well.  My guideline for a happy pregnancy is to make sure her energy never dips into the yellow.  Other things never seem to matter that much.  She can be all green in all other areas, but if her energy touches yellow, I don't get to choose both traits.

I'm moving this to General Discussion because it doesn't relate to Pets game play.

Pam do you mean that if her energy bar ever touches yellow during the course of the pregnancy than you don't get to change traits? I just want to make sure I interpreted that right.

That's the way it happens for me.  If the energy bar turns yellow and she gets that tired moodlet (whatever it's called), I don't get to pick both traits at birth.  Depending on how tired I let her get, I either get to choose one of the traits or none.  I keep her happy in all other areas.  She's never hungry because she's eating watermelon every couple of hours, and she's got all the other needs covered nicely.  It's just the energy need that can mess things up.  I've even had an expectant mother take a nap at the park to avoid the yellow energy bar because just the journey home and into bed would make her too tired.

I have had problems with picking traits sometimes too but i guessed it was because all my pregnant sims were usually up till the crack of dawn working on skills until their energy was really low so I agree with Pam energy has a lot to do with it  :)

Hmmm, thank you for that info Pam and MommaLadyBug.  I think it might have been an energy issue with my sim, too.  Her overall happiness was always in the green above the notch (in the bubble area at the top of the bar), but it's possible she could have gotten tired and still had her other needs so high as to keep her overall happiness in a good area.  I always gauged by overall happiness as opposed to weighting one need more than others.

I've been super careful in my current dynasty story to not overwork pregnant sims and get them to the spa as often as budget allows and so far I've been able to pick all traits through 2 pregnancies.

I've had this problem too, and I never let my Sim below Very Happy. But on the bright side, at least it wasn't in my Dynasty!

Sarcastic hearts. :]

When my second Generation Dynasty Heir Cucumber was born, I got to pick both traits, and I took care of Banana as much as I usually did - maybe even less.
