I hope it was correct making a new thread since the previous title Cat vs. dog doesn't apply to this.
As with the cat and dog hunting, this test was based on the parameters from the painting/inventing/sculpting profit experiment here:
http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/lifetimewishes/ambitions/descendantofdavinci.php100 hours, static needs, non-stop board-breaking vs. non-stop (almost) hunting.
Martial artist - martial arts skill maxed, has Lucky trait, only completed the Timber Terminator of the MA challenges, and has also completed the Athletic challenge Body Builder. She has tons of rewards, but I'm not sure any would affect this.
Dog:
Skills: hunting (max)
Challenges completed - Metal Finder and Gem Finder
Traits - Genius, Hunter, Non-destructive, playful, loyal
Rewards - Alpha pet, beloved animal, best behaviour
Used 'sniff out' basic skill only, on home lot only.
Raw items value collected in 100 hours:
Human breaking space blocks - 31,729 (uncut gems only)
Dog hunting - 98,668 (this is raw metals, uncut gems and un-analysed space rocks only. No special items.)
(Cat hunting small creatures total from the other thread for comparison: 21,656 - different experiment but the dog results are very similar so it should work.)
Profit from the above when cut/smelted/analysed. Still no special items included, and no gnomes that showed up in the mail. Costs of smelting and cutting have been deducted.
Human - 96,540
Dog - 275,512
If tiberium is grown from the cut versions returned, the human doesn't do too badly as she found twice as much as the dog. The totals in that case would be:
Human: 241,047
Dog: 348,146
For the sake of completeness, this is other income they gained that wasn't included in the above totals:
Value of gnomes returned to the human in the mail: +11,000
Value of gnomes returned to the dog in the mail: +3,000
Value of special objects fully built from parts collected by the dog: +16,000
Things that might have affected the results: were mostly in favour of the human, actually. Her fiance was running around picking up the goodies as she chopped, so she never stopped, her mood was a fair bit higher for the first few hours until I thought of removing a couple of moodlets to make it the same as the dog, and a couple of times the dog ran out of 'sniff out' orders as I was distracted, so it just sniffed the horses for a while.
