When a Sim moves out of home, do they keep what's in the family inventory?

I'm planning on having my Sim move out when he hits young adult, and making him the active household. If I have things in my family inventory, will they stay with that household, or will they move onto my new active household?

In my experience, if you move someone out and make them the new active household (leaving other sims behind at the old home) the new active household will not receive the family inventory. In my DecaDynasty, my sim had maxed the Cooking career. I left the super fridge in the family inventory, assuming she would receive it upon moving, but the family inventory was empty when she moved and she didn't get the fridge.

If you move and you're the only one in the house, you get it but if people are left behind then the family inventory stays with the family.

I wonder if this depends on the amount of people that move out then as I just recently had my Sims move out to a bigger house and leave the eldest daughter (YA) behind in the old house and they took all the stuff in the Family Inventory with them. I've not been back in to the daughter's house though to see whether she has it too as I don't want to lose the rest of the family's wishes etc.
