Downloading Problems
« on: November 24, 2011, 04:09:44 PM »
I'm trying to download things, but everytime I do it downloads something called "index.php" instead. I don't know what this is, but how do I fix this?

I can't help with why this happens, but I can help shed some light on what index.php is.
The default web address for the forum is www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum. When you visit it, the forum automatically adds /index.php to the end of it. index.php is therefore the end of the url for the forum's homepage.

That aside, do you have a screenshot of exactly what is downloading?

Yea, this is what pops up when I try to download it (I use Mozilla).  It says open with windows media player because I didn't know what it was when I first downloaded it so I tried opening it with various programs.

What are you trying to download? A lot or Sim or what?

Norma

**edit**  I'm getting it too. I tried to download a lot and it came up as the same thing.

I've mentioned it in the comment thread for the latest site upgrade. Not sure if it is related to the upgrade or not, but Carl should see that when he comes on next.

**edit (AGAIN!) *** Seems to be a Mozilla problem, I  just tried using internet Explorer and I got the correct file.

This was a bug I was lucky to squish or I'd be looking all day. Others have had the problem, which exists between SMF 2 and Firefox. I put in a fix, and everything seems to be working. :)

Yup, fixed. Thanks Carl. I'll use IE if I have to, but I'd prefer FireFox.
