ADVENTURE: Trapped At Home
« on: November 19, 2009, 08:52:10 PM »
My Sim is in Egypt and working on an adventure.  The titles showing up are Trapped at Home and Find the Book of Three Relics.  It's one where she has to go to a local's home and get into the library hidden there to find a particular book.  The instructions for the adventure said she might have to befriend the owner to gain access to the library.  I found a hole in the floor that opened a hidden staircase and follow it down.  There are two locked doors and a footpad.  My Sim can't do anything in that room!  She can't step on the footpad.  No interactions with anything.  All it says when I click anywhere on the floor is "use stairs."  I went back to the Sim who owns the house and befriended her until they became Best Friends.  She got permission to spend the night so she doesn't have to go back to the Base Camp.  But I'm stumped on how to get those doors unlocked and how to activate the footpad.  I thought maybe an option would come up to ask the owner after a certain level of friendship, but nothing.  Has anyone played this one yet?  Any suggestions?

Pam, I haven't done that Adventure yet, but maybe a fresh pair of eyes would help. Email me your character file and I'll snoop around.

It'll probably work itself out as I go, but thanks Metro.  I'm finding that other adventures bring me back to the same places with keys to open doors and such.  This might be like that.

I've done this one I just can't remember what I did...  sorry not much help.

I have been stuck on another Egypt challenge where you go to the basement of another sim and you have to figure out the pattern to disarm the security doors.

I can't figure out the pattern and it keeps telling me that the code is written somewhere I just can't find it......

:D That sounds like me and my little girl Sophia in China.  I'm having a devil of a time finding the right dumb keystone to go with the right adventure.  So far I've found 2 keystones, crescent and heart, and adventures for others.  Everywhere has an adventure and I can't get into any of them without hitting a dead end.  :D

I have yet to get to Egypt because I don't want to tangle with mummies right now.  :D  Sophia has her blue belt in martial arts and I'll be sending her bum to kick some mummy butt soon.  :D

The one thing that really irked me was when I sent 2 sims to China they could stay for 6 days, which was nice, but the stupid general store where you buy the supplies, food and showers in a can, was closed the whole 6 days.  Funny but the special merchant seemed to be a little ticked also.  :D  Unfortunately I immediately thought, uh oh, glitch...but in France the merchant was there.  Maybe the old boy in China up and died by the second trip.  :D

Now this one, I have figured out. It's easier to trigger the switches on then off and see what doors they manipulate. Afterward, you can plan your attack. I was stuck hardcore and found that I only needed to push three switches after analyzing it that way. I couldn't find the codes either.

EDIT: On the harder one I actually got out a piece of paper and wrote down what doors were opened, I found the solution to be a four switch combination with no trickery involving a certain order you needed to open them.

Pam my Sim did this adventure, he was already friends with the guy and just had to go visit him...can't remember what he did in the house, but there was a smaller shack on the lot that he had to go down the stairs to find what he needed.  Sorry can't remember more, but he was working on finding the 3rd relic, but his vacation ended and he will have to wait to go back to complete it. :-\

I haven't been back to that location with that particular Sim yet.  Or I might have cancelled the adventure.  Or it's possible that I moved that Sim out of the house.  Hehe.  I had 8 Sims going at the same time and it was getting too confusing (obviously).

My Sim got this same adventure, it also said that she might have to befriend the owner and so on. But when I found the house no one lived there. ??? Instead she got the option to sneak inside. :D

Hi...I got the adventure to get into ancient library and Carl is right...you have to trip the triggers and see which door they open.  I really had to watch the sparkling lights and where they went to figure out which door which trigger opened.  I met with the girl living there, and talked my simmie's head off and finally waited til she was starving to death and went to fix dinner then went downstairs.  :D  She wasn't a very friendly sim and after talking all day, she still isn't a friend. :-\

I did find the relic and delivered it, finally.  It wasn't the triggers that threw me, it was the sim.  :D

I gave my adventurer Sim the charismatic trait so she could get the Super Popular lifetime wish (20 friends) and I had her complete that before she started traveling. It only took about a week, all she did was play guitar in public places and then I got her the Attractive reward as soon as she had enough points. Also by then she had made enough money from tips to start traveling.

With the Celebrity challenge and Attractive reward everyone she meets is an instant friend, this is really useful for a lot of adventures. :)

Hey peps...

So to continue on this topic. I am now going with this adventure. Now my problem is not going down the tomb but to get the "goods."
As far as I can see in guides, etc., I should get "something." Maybe a book in one of the chests at the lowest level in the tomb. And the "classic" green goal lines. But I don't get anything. Get a relic from the 2 chests, but apart from that, the "ancient library" adventure goes away and I just can't seem to continue that line of adventure.

Now, am I missing something here? I have done the tomb several times now to see if I missed anything, but from my view, I don't.
Please help. :-D

Yep, this one needs hardcore approach, pen and paper - once you've checked at least a couple of the switches (takes patience, cause you need to reset every time, at least that what I did to be sure I haven't missed anything) you'll just need to find the combination - mine used 4 of them. It was a nice touch :) And I don't think it's worth looking for any kind of code left behind somewhere, it's more fulfilling if you do it yourself.

In case someone else doesn't agree with that:
