I'm trying to add an equestrian center to Sunset Valley. However, the land is not flat even though I bulldoze. When I place the building, it looks awful. Is there anyway to smooth the land out?

I had a lot of trouble placing the equestrian centre in Barnacle Bay. I had to find a lot flat enough that the entrance would have a flat path for quite a way - otherwise, horses cannot enter. I played around with two custom-placed lots that were too hilly, before I moved a park that wasn't placed by me, and put the equestrian centre there instead. So my suggestion would be to find a lot with a big open flat space, move whatever's on it somewhere else, and place the equestrian centre there.

Unless you have filled them with houses the two 40x40 lots over by Christopher Steel's original house are perfect for petite equestrian center.

Are you seeing a sudden dip at the edges of the lot when you place it? A picture would be helpful. BUT, you may want to try using the code:

SetImportedTerrainOffset (value) [from .5 to -.5. I usually find that .1 to .2 works...sometimes 0.0]

Type it in before you place the lot. Then check the elevation before you click okay. If it's not level, cancel and type in another value.

If that is the problem, hopefully this will help  :)

I'm moving this to the Technical Help board because it doesn't relate to actual game play.

Thank you so much everyone, very helpful.  Just one more question is the 'set elevation' a cheat?

Yes, it's a cheat. Bring up the cheat bar and type away   :)

I used to have that problem and I solved it this way:

Enter the game and place the lot you say. Rotate it if it needs to be rotated and Accept.
Click the lot and go to Build/Buy mode
Enter the cheat "TestingCheatsEnabled true" and then "ConstrainFloorElevation false"
Select the "Flatten Lot" option in build mode.
You should now see the building on a nice flat lot BUT in case there are windows and doors, they may be a little out of place. You just need to re-place them.
