Finding animals in Sunset Valleys and the other neigbourhoods.

Apologies if this has already been posted, i did have a look but couldn't find anything similar. I was wondering if anyone had come across any particular spots that spawn the minor animals SV etc? I've had a bit of a look and have found some deer but can't find any other animals or birds. Are they easy to spot or do you have to look really hard? My Sim is still a way off the points for the Collection Helper reward but I'd like to start collecting some of the smaller animals asap.  I've not had any strays or anything in my Sims garden yet either, is this normal? I've only had the game a few days and have probably only played a couple of Sim weeks so I wonder if that is why?

I don't know about specific spawn points for birds lizards etc, but I have heard that the spawners are attached to existing spawners, so where you find other things (bugs/gems) you may find birds etc.  And as far as stray pets they spawn in neighbourhoods randomly.  I was playing Hidden Springs and had a stray cat show up and rip into my newspaper so they are out there, just randomly shows up. (as far as I know).

As far as collecting, It might be easier to way for that collection helper, Sunset Valley is a big place.  (of course you could start with the obvious places like stonehenge and the mine entrance, I always find fun stuff there)

If you have Barnacle Bay, here's an answer I gave on another thread. Also, you can use the collection helper to find the small pets.

Did a quick trial this morning in Barnacle Bay with the collection helper. There are spawn points for all the minor pets. I've only looked at the end of the first day, so I'm guessing more will pop up over a few game days. I have to go out now and can't keep looking, but I'll look more when I get back.
For now, near the military base and cemetery for snakes. Near the school for turtles. Rodents behind the tattoo salon. Lizards on the other side of the road where the cemetery is. Seems to be a few for birds already - At Grace's Garden, on the beach opposite the art gallery and near the house up near the Garden of the Forgotten.

The one day I had Pets in a SV game there were snake spawns in central park.  Birds were on the beach behind the legacy lot, next to legacy lot/Landgraab house, behind working friends house.  Rodent was on the way up to Angel Springs from Redwood Pkway and on the corner by art museum. 

And I cant remember the others right now.  Brain is fried.  But yes they're attached to other spawners most of the ones I noticed were linked to where seeds and space rocks spawn usually.

If you get a cat and teach it to hunt (buy the pet toy box and let it practice hunting with the catnip mouse), it will catch minor animals in your own back yard.

Thanks for your responses, they've been really helpful. I've also managed to find a nuthatch to the south of the Summer Hill Springs, where there is an empty lot (if you've not filled it of course) facing the beach. I shall continue to look and will keep you posted on any other spots. Thanks again

That's the lot most of us refer to as the legacy/dynasty lot, as that's the lot you're supposed to start from for both legacies and dynasties.

Ah ok, I did wonder in your description of where the birds were but I've not done a Legacy challenge yet so I wasn't sure!
