2 of the same Sims in a game?
« on: January 16, 2013, 11:26:33 AM »
Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster -- nice to meet everyone. I had a game going in Moonlight Falls with Marigold Maldano -- I changed some things about her like traits and looks and the like, but not her name. Now she's married with kids and lots of new skills. My game got glitchy after I brought a Bonehilda into the family (couldn't get her out of the pool!) so I thought I'd just save the family and move them into a new game. Then I remembered that there already is a Marigold Maldano in Moonlight Falls. Is this going to cause any problems?

Thanks in advance.

It won't cause any problems; it will just be really awkward for you if/when the two Marigolds meet.

Thanks -- If it gets weird I can always change my Sims' name.

Cloning of the same sim has been going on for quite sometime.  It doesn't happen very often, but doesn't seem to mess with the game.  I have had whole families cloned, lol.  Your right, just change the name. :)

I know I had created a sim, saved him, and then durring gameplay, my sim met his clone working at the consignment shop.

I remember having a family of sculptors in Twinbrook and somehow I ended putting two copies down into the same game. I went to play another household (possibly the Hi-Tech friends) and I decided to have one of them date the teenage girl that I'd made, who was a YA by that time. But it just happened that she was dating... herself! Creepy or what?

No it won't in fact I use Agnes Crumplebottom, who I renamed Agnes Darling, if I use her in Sunset Valley, I delete the old Agnes and use the new one. But even if you didn't no problems would occur. I did encounter a issue with the new Agnes having a baby and the old Agnes being marked as the mother though.

If they have the same name, the only problem I can see is when using the Resetsim code.

I had this in one of my earlier games and it honestly got a little weird.  Real Liam was the spouse and lived in the house, but Bizarro Liam would linger outside at a perfect standstill.  At first I thought it was just because he was a paparazzi, but he could come into the house without being invited and once took a toddler on a walk.  It's possible the game gets confused about who's who due to name categorization?

Either way, it makes for some amusing story events.
