Watcher Achievement tips
« on: August 06, 2011, 12:05:33 PM »
I did search the forum and didn't see a fully devoted topic, nor is this sort of topic on the website.  So here is my bit of info, that hopefully people will add to it.  I don't have cheats enabled so unlocking outfits and hair and new furniture really is my excitement in game. Used http://the-games-master.com/p/the-sims-medieval-achievements-031148  for reference

Watcher Achievement levels and rewards (complete list) (No photos of the rewards, but still spoiler alert):

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/6973613.page

General Tips for Watcher Achievements:
Kingdom planning:  For achievements that require all of a type of hero (misanthropes, gluttons/guzzlers, whale ate my parents, all Jacobans, all Peterans) start a kingdom and stick to it.  With the misanthropes and glutton/guzzlers, make sure you don't get legendary traits until you get your desired achievement.  I kept a note next to my monitor reminding me.  If you accidentally do get a legendary trait or forget and make a hero with a different flaw, time to have them meet the watcher (dueling or pit monster) and hopefully you didn't have an heir.

Ambitions coinciding with Kingdom Achievements:  Some ambitions sort of throw you into a achievement if you sort of guide your kingdom levels that way.  For example, with the Thoughts & Prayers ambition, try to aim for 'Watcher's Protection', 'Brains over Brawn', 'Dead Sim Walking', and 'Frustrated Doc'.  Similarly with Safe & Sound, 'Watcher Who?' and 'Forbidden Magic'.

So achievement specific tips, some achievements are self-explanatory:

Well-versed : Perform poems 50 times - easy one. Just make sure your bard has a poem in inventory and this completes itself on its own.

A Bard's Day Night: Quest with Bard 30 times

Beowulph: Write Beowulf - Epic poem named Beowulph with inspirations Food/Drink, War, Kingdom/Loyalty in that order

Prolific Playwright: Write 20 plays in one kingdom - sit down and write 20 plays, go with comedic as they take less inspirations, name them whatever (I numbered them).

To Be or Not to Be: Write legendary play - Supposedly, Legendary Play named 'to be or not to be' (with out quotes) with inspirations Kingdom/Royalty, Love, Art, Sickness/Death, Foreign Lands in that order.

Dressed for Success: Craft 50 pieces of armor - If you are looking to hammer out this ambition (har har) in a row get *a lot* of crudium and ferrous.  Keep making crude plate mail or ramshackle armor.

If I Had a Hammer: Quest with Blacksmith 30 times

Darkness Unleashed: Craft legendary Doom Sword - http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=5596.0  To ensure legendary quality use the angelshammer, and be careful when making.

From Here... : Place 25 total buildings

...to Eternity: Place 100 total buildings

Clever Swordplay: Win 200 swordfights total - I believe this is duel fights not sparring?

Sovereign Study: Train the Spy and Knight with the Monarch - Both have dummies in their respective quarters, so head on over. Or, turn the marker on, and if in a buildable lot, place a dummy.

Carry a Little Stick: Win a swordfight with worst sword - Crude longsword, hedge your chances and have full moodlet, and if possible luck potion, potion of preparedness.  I picked to fight the town crier since, they don't practice on the dummies. I'm sure this is duel only

Deposed: Defeat the Monarch in swordfight - I'm pretty sure this is also from duel.  Good with a double person quest with your spy/knight with the monarch.  Have your monarch equipped with terrible stuff and low rested, bad mood, etc.

Let There Be Rock: Discover all minable minerals - Pretty easy, just find them, look behind buildings and in little nooks with your wizard or blacksmith.

Herbal Hexplorer: Discover all harvestable plants - Easy, with your physician or wizard.

Botanical Boon: Gather herbs 50 times - Very easy, can even accomplish with wildflowers

Passion for Poison: Have 25 nightshade in inventory at once - Designate a sim to hold it all, wizard is great for the growth spell.  If you have another sim who has nightshade in inventory share!

The Chosen: Have every hero sim chosen by the Watcher - With 12 Culture, ability to be chosen unlocks, self-action.  Takes a bit of planning (used a notepad to checkmark each hero), great with Thoughts & Prayers.

Watcher Protection: Reach 10 Culture with just 3 Security - Great with the Thoughts & Prayers ambition.

Dead Sim Walking: Build 10+ buildings with Well-being at 3 or less - Great with Thoughts & Prayers ambition

Graveyard shift: Have 30 sims pass away in one kingdom - Be sure not to overwork the constable with the pit monster, remember you can also duel to death, thus faster.

Poker Face: Win 100 card games

King of Kingball: Win 200 Kingball games - Have 2 heroes play each other, one with best paddle, one with worst.  Each win counts towards this achievement, also has a chance for having the Underdog win (Thanks Kaliope)

Moral Ambiguity: Cheat at cards with Peteran Priest - the ability to cheat is on table during the actual game

Underdog: Win a Kingball game with worst paddle against the best - Keep your rookie paddle! I would think practicing Kingball a lot then pick a low level hero with whom you've equipped Excalipaddle, drink some fortune potion and be in a good mood.  Further hedge your chances if you have wizard active in quest and curse, the opponent.

Gluttons and Guzzlers: 5 Drunks and 5 Gluttons in one Kingdom - Takes a bit of planning, be sure to have no legendary traits.  Low traffic places are great for drunkards (wizard, spy) and replace fireplace crock with oven and buy tons of wheat.  Oven recipes don't spoil as soon, yet the buffs are shorter.

Plastered Perpetuity: Be drunk for 24 hours

Gruel Hoarder: Have 25 bowls of food in inventory at once - Great with the Meat Quest with your merchant.  Chef from Gatrobury comes and constantly cooks gruel.  Move to inv.
Help Wanted: Fulfill 500 responsibilities

Legendary: Have 25 sims aquire Legendary Traits

Jack of All Trades: Complete 2 responsibilities for every profession in one kingdom

Nick of Time: Fulfill a responsibility with less than 15 minutes left - This seems to accomplish itself with some potion deliveries

The First Legend: Get a Legendary Trait - http://www.carls-sims-medieval-guide.com/legendarytraits/

Monastic Marshal: Convert 50 Sims to Peteran - If you run out of people to convert, switch to Jacobian for a bit. Or in quests with priest and other hero, convert, renounce, reconvert, repeat! (Thanks Kaliopae)

Sweeter than Peter: Quest with Peteran Priest 30 times

Pack of Peterans: Have 9 Peteran Heroes in one kingdom - plan it out, designate a Peter-kingdom

Pretty Popular: Max Peteran popularity - Sermon after sermon and evangelizing

Lessons of the Watcher: Give 20 Peteran sermons in one kingdom - Sermon times are 8am, 1pm, 6pm, 11pm.  You can start nearly two hours late (but not great for popularity).  Watch your audience, you want them laughing even with somber tone.  Insightful does not guarantee a successful sermon

Start Your Kingdoms: Build 12 reception halls - You need 60 renown to have a reception hall, with 12 ambitions, this means 12 kingdoms with 60 renown.

Crown Renown: Gain 5,000 total renown - On building renown, pick the 'high road' of chance encounters.  Help the merchant, save the kids, etc.

RP Spender: Spend 2,500 RP

Savings Account: Save up 300 RP - goes well with Fistful of Heroes achievement, just save up the RP and then spend once the achievement is awarded

Fistful of Heroes: Have 500 renown with only 5 or fewer buildings -

Slush Fund: Save up 600 RP - goes well with Fistful of Heroes achievement, just save up the RP and then spend once the achievement is awarded

Up All Knight: Complete 30 quests with Knight

Singles Knight: Practice military strategy solo 25 times as Knight - Must be alone

Crash Test Dummy:  Train at the dummy for 24 hours

Brains Over Brawn: Have 10 Knowledge with just 3 Security - Great with Thoughts & Prayers ambition

I'm on a Boat: Trade via boat with Merchant 100 times - I've read that it must be items traded not simoles, but handy just to trade single items at a time.  Also handy to put multiple items in boat for different ports, then queue up.  Such as having 6 barley and 2 mushrooms in boat, then queue two trades, one to Tredony, next to Crafthole.  It saves the little snatch of time from opening the cargo hold.

Making the Trade: Complete 30 quests with Merchant

Elven Exploration: Aquire the map to Effenmont - The most expensive item in the shoppe, or given in chance encounter.

Money Matters: Earn 2,500 Simoles at Market Stall - Really easy, especially if following the guide, and buying the most expensive items for resell

Decree Spree: Answer 200 petitions - Sit at the thrown and answer.  Handy to keep a notepad and tick off how many you've answered.  200 is a lot.

King's Quest: Complete 30 quests with Monarch

A Sim of the People: Maximize the Monarch's popularity - Answer petitions in way that is the nice way (usually giving moneys or not taxing)

Max Monarch: Monarch at level 10 - power leveling the Monarch by practicing military strategy indefinitely

King of the Bed:  WooHoo 25 times with Monarch in one kingdom - I banged this out in one night(har har) with the wifey to avoid too many kids running around the Castle.

Baby Monarch: Renown at 250+ with a Monarch of level 1 or 2 - With some planning it can be done by not focusing on other heroes for a quest.  Or, kill off your monarch.

King Bling: Gain 1,000,000 Simoles - Never has motherlode been more tempting.  Tips?

Big Spender: Spend 15,000 total Simoles

One Rich Sim: Acquire 10,000 Simoles with one Sim

The Grand Convincer: Convert 50 Sims to Jacoban - If you run out of people to convert, switch to Peteran for a bit.  Even opening routes with nations gives a new diplomat

Jacob Guide You: Complete 30 quests with Jacoban

Just Jacobans: Have 9 Jacoban Heroes in one kingdom

Terrifying Watcher: Max out Jacoban Fear - Post scary proclamations and make intense sermons

Fire and Brimstone: Give 20 Jacoban sermons in one kingdom - Sermon times are 8am, 1pm, 6pm and 11pm, you can start nearly 2 hours late (not recommended).  Great to just go with intense tone to get the Terrifying Watcher achievement

The Doctor is IN: Diagnose 50 Sims - Actually you can diagnose 50 times, great way to make friends/lovers with the doctor

Bacon Blues: Get gored by a boar 20 times - A few ways to get gored : in the forest with low-ish mood, and in chance encounter with gambling man by refusing.  Pretty tough

What's Up Doc: Complete 30 quests with Physician

Frustrated Doc: Have a level 10 Physician in a kingdom with low Well-Being(3 or less) - Great if you can power level your doc (diagnose and operate) particularly in Thoughts &Prayers ambition

Full Recovery: Completely heal a Sim on the operating table

Fiddlin' Physician: Fiddle 20 times with Physician in one kingdom

Beneficent Bartender: Create 20 healing potions

Feast for the Beast: Send 100 Sims to the Pit - Be sure not to overwhelm the constable, such as condeming sims one right after another, as the constable gets stuck.

Inedible: Survive Pit 5 times in one kingdom - Be sure to feed the beast first, save, jump, repeat.  Maybe 2 or 3 meats for good measure

Leap of Faith: Jump into the Pit - Be sure to feed and save before!

Q is for Quest: Complete 50 quests

Quest Addict: Complete 100 quests

Prince of Plats: Complete 150 quests with platinum

Watcher Who: Have 10 Security with just 3 Culture - Great with Safe & Sound ambition

I Do: Have 5 weddings in one kingdom

Mass of Misanthropes: Have 10 Misanthropes in one kingdom - Takes a bit of planning, especially if you Brave New World, just remember not to get any legendary traits

Open Door Policy: Make 20 friends with the Monarch - Easy if you have the famous legendary trait, and then just listen to petitions.  Everyone will be your friend very quickly

Love Doctor: Have 4 romances with one Physician - Diagnose to gain xp and gain relationship, then move on to a smooch

House of Spouses: Marry 4 times with a Monarch - Either you can marry /divorce 4 times with different people, or same person (hard to rebuild that bridge but it is possible). OR you can go like Henry the 8th, and send them to pit or duel to death.

Empty Pockets: Pick 75 pockets

Spy Game: Complete 30 quests with Spy

Greed is Good: Steal from the Messenger Post 15 times with Spy - Posts are in front of castle, town center, physican's clinic, and both churches.

It's Not Pocket Science: Gain 120+ Simoles in one pick pocket

Eggcellent: Throw 150 eggs at sims in the stocks

Tomato Tosser: Throw 150 tomatoes at sims in stocks

You Snooze, You Win: Max loyalty in Snordwich - As with all max loyalty achievements, great with Imperial Domination ambition.  To raise loyalty, have your Monarch, Knight, or Spy patrol the road to the respective Nation.
Tree-Hugger: Max loyalty in Effenmont - "
Avast Ye Scurvy Dogs: Max loyalty in Aarbyville - "
Advorton Advantage: Max loyalty in Advorton - "
The Simple Life: Max loyalty in Burdley - "
A Hole in One: Max loyalty in Crafthole - "
Don't Tread on Tredony: Max loyalty in Tredony - "
Ticktop Shape: Max loyalty in Ticktop - "
Love by Proxy: Max loyalty in Yacothia - "
Leader's Digest: Max loyalty in Gastrobury - "

Enough Edicts: Propose 100 edicts - The Monarch and the Spy can propose edicts

Edict Addict: Pass 25 edicts in one kingdom - Passing one per day is good, each extra edict annoys every nation, so best to do it over  spread of days using Monarch and Spy.

It Was a Big Whale: 10 Heroes in one Kingdom with Parents Eaten by Whale trait - Takes a bit of planning, and handy with the Legendary Kingdom Ambition

Thar She Blows: Slay 5 whales in one kingdom - Coincides with the previous achievement, any 5 whale kills will do, 5 in a row with same sim or multiple

Well Done: Cast Inferno 80 times - Level 10 wizard spell, pick a target and keep at it, energy potions from Effenmont are handy with this.

Wizness Plan: Complete 30 quests with the Wizard

Magic Mender: Heal 10 Sims by casting Mend

On Vacation: Go 48 hours in a row with Beacon of Hope on - Level 10 wizard spell, you don't have to cast on self, but easier to watch the moodlet run.

I always wanted to contribute something, rather than lurking on the forums or commenting on the guide-website.  This would be better looking in table form or even categorized in Kingdom/Sim/Game sections.  But I have no knack for tables.  Glad to help!  I'll keep editing/ adding once I get away from the keyboard for a bit...

For getting King Bling I would guess you need to play alot with the merchant and think over which countries to do foreign trade with and also which Hero's can help you gain x material or if you should just buy it in the shop when you have cash to spare.

Thank you so much! I finally got the Beowulf achievement. To Be or Not To Be works too (I did it with Commoner dress).

A couple of tips of my own:
For Carry a Little Stick and Underdog I had two Hero Sims competing, one with the best equipment and one with the worst. Every game the best equipped Hero won was one towards Clever Swordplay/King of Kingball, and eventually the underdog won and I got those achievements.

For the Convert... achievement you can play a Priest and another Hero. Convert the Hero, have him renounce his faith and then you can reconvert him.

I noticed since the 2.0.113.00001 patch, Baby Monarch is missing, and Fistful of Heroes is now 500 Renown for 5 or less buildings, i thought i would throw that out there if anyone else noticed it?

Pirates and Nobles Adventure Pack Expansion

I only just installed the game yesterday so I don't have any handy tips aside from some treasure hunting tips found on the forum.  I will update as info is discovered/given.  I still have about 6 of the normal ambitions to go, and I'm waiting to see what game-play tips are given for the new Pirates/Nobles Ambition.

Re: Watcher Achievement tips Baby Monarch

Is it just me or has anyone else had the baby monarch achievement dissapear? I'm not sure if is happened after I installed the last update or when I started playing pirates & nobles. I was never able to get this achievement despite having a Monarch at Lv1or 2 a couple of times at the end of an ambition.
