disappearing build...

Hi all. I'm new to Sims 3. Just started, created sim, purchased a home and went into build mode to add a deck to the lot.. it's separate from the house. all went well, added a few deck chairs, a grill, etc. looked nice.  little while later during live mode I realized only the perimeter of the deck is visible and the deck including everything I put on it is not there.

I went back into build mode, and used the sledgehammer on one part and it showed up... furniture/grill, everything. back to live mode, it's gone again, save for the outline of the deck....

any suggestions?

Do you have any mods or custom content? (don't name them if you do)
If not than I have no idea.

I don't even know what that is, so I guess I don't have that. lol  I wondered if it had something to do with building on a lot that I bought with a house already on it, as opposed to buying a plain lot and starting from scratch....

or it's just a fluke.

Is your house not on a foundation? You might be sitting a floor too low to see it. Try Page Up or the Floor Up button.

Okay. Reading it again the only thing that pops out to me is did you put flooring or foundation over the whole deck?
Or try what Denile said.

no, no flooring or foundation at all... just selected the deck and laid it out... hmm...

I need a foundation under the deck? I'll begin renovations soon. lol

Okay I just read your new reply. Okay, look at the left of your screen, a little bit down, close to Build Mode. There is a round button with small arrows on top and bottom, the top of the button looks like the top of the house (roof) and the bottom, looks just like walls. Press the one with the roof kind and it should go up to your foundation.
Now are you using a deck* or a foundation? I hope this helps.
The one that came with the Late Night patch people. I don't know if she will inderstand.

I think it is as Denile said, if your House is built on the Ground (Grass) then if you added a Deck which has a trellis type wall on it then it will count as another floor up. So if you follow as Vampire instructed on changing the floors then you should find it, I've done that before, took me ages to work out why, Lol. Also remember that you need to add a Staircase to the edge of the Decking so that your Sims can access it.

yep it was the floor up/down thing. it was there... just different level.

so far, I'm loving this game. I used to play second life and I should have been playing Sims all along... all I ever wanted to do in second life was buy houses and redecorate. much more goal oriented here which is more fun.

Oh yes, for building , there is nothing better then sims
