Lost my legacy family
« on: September 03, 2015, 09:40:45 PM »
So, I was on the 6th generation of my family and I sent two of them to University. Everything was fine for the first two Sim-days. Then I noticed I wasn't able to interact with the other sims (except each other), nor were any of the building markers showing up in map view. So, I looked for what to do to fix either problem and ended up resetting the town with Twallan's Master Controller. Still couldn't interact with other sims but the building markers were showing up. Then I had to quit so I saved. I didn't notice anything unusual at that point, but I hadn't been looking for it either. The next time I went to play, one of the girls had a low social motive so I was going to chat long distance with their mom and her picture wasn't in the friends section. None of the family was, not even her sister who'd come to University with her. I pulled up each of the family trees and there was no tree, they were all by themselves. I tried to make them go home and it just stayed on the loading screen for two hours before I forced it to close. I even went to edit town, then to home town, and the family's home is still there but I can't click on it. I then tried to used master controller to add family members and I was able to re-make them sisters but only the university sims are showing up on the list.
I have all the EPs except showtime, and only High-end loft stuff pack. I also have all the worlds from EA except Roaring Heights. I've tried uninstalling all of my cc and mods but that hasn't helped. My backup file is in the exact same situation as the regular.
Please, is there any way to save my legacy family or is it completely gone?

I am not sure what to say about this unless you've got a extra-extra backup you can go back to? As from the sounds of it, the game somehow got corrupted.

I did try to search for a solution, but haven't been able to find much.

When you save, do you use Save or Save As and give it a new name? I would very much recommend using Save As (new name) often. Specially before traveling anywhere. Including University. Also, Save As (new name) at the beginning of each new generation. That way you can go back to that save if something messes up.

If your backup file is in a little better position, I'd try the tips below. Other than that I'm at a total loss.

Another suggested tip for Sims that can't interact is to do a factory reset:

As for the broken family tree - it sounds as though it's a symptom of a corrupt save-game.

Thanks, Mrs. Flynn. Yeah, I usually Save, not Save As. Guess I'll have to do that from now on.
