Computer problems-help!

So I built a new house and bought a computer but when I try to have one of my sims use it it won't even let me click on it!  With the laptop it just says put in inventory.  I put it on the desk and have tried rotating both and using different desks but its not working!  I can use my laptop from the inventory list but they go sit at the kitchen table and I need that space.  Why can't they use the desk and why does the desktop computer not work at all?  Help!

Welcome to the forum! This might seem like a dumb question but do you have a chair for the desk?

Thank you!  Yes I used this fancy chair I thought looked good in my study.  Its a living chair.  I didn't see desk chairs.  Why does it have to be a dining chair?

It was the chair.  Apparently you have to use dining chairs for that.  Well at least I can use my computer now!

It's funny cause that was the very first mistake I made when i first got the sims.

I had no idea!  I was going crazy!  That's kinda dumb.  Oh well.  It works now.
