Bailey - large modern house on a sloped block
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:38:23 PM »
Bailey 1.2
A modern house built in Sunset Valley.
I originally built this house and uploaded it to the exchange, but have done a few minor tweaks to upload it here on the Swap Shop. If you downloaded it from the exchange, this version is pretty much the same except for a couple of different doors and a few extra decorative items, so no need to download again. Please read all my notes on placement and playing this house as it has a few quirks lol.

Lot size: 40 x 40
Furnished price: 166,293
Unfurnished price: 97,661
Bedrooms: 4
Bathrooms: 2 ½
Contains content from World Adventures, Ambitions and High-End Loft Stuff
Store content:  I was going to remove all the store content for this upload, but when I looked at what was in there, I decided to leave it as some are free items from the store and the study furniture I just couldn’t bring myself to take out (if you don’t want to buy the pieces, the game will replace them with items you have). I did remove a shelf I had in the kid’s room because it is no longer available in the store.

Topper - Free potted plant.

Love in Darkness  - Free painting.

The exchange says that the following two items are both in the house, but they are identical items with different names and only one is in the house. I guess you could take your pick as to which one you get (they are both free, so why not get both lol)

Sippin Succulents - Planter comes with the free Prius. (if you get a message that it is not available in your region, go to the bottom of the page where it says change language and select a different language. I usually have English/Australia, but for this I had to select English/USA

Flora Fierce  - Planter comes with the free Renault. Again, if you are in the wrong region, try a different language. I think for this one I had to pick English/UK

The following items are not free, but can be exchanged for items you already have.
Tropi-Con FauxFrond  -  Planter

The next three items are in the Club Vaindenburger Study set but can be purchased individually

President’s Desk    desk

The Lumbago -  desk chair

Venerable Vellum Volume Vault  - bookcase

Front door

Placement guide (please read notes below)

Placement of house
This was built on a 40 x 40 block I placed on Sunnyside Blvd in Sunset Valley. You can see in the insert of the placement photo just where on Sunnyside Blvd and the main part of the placement photo shows where the corner of the block should be. It doesn't have to be in the exact place, but you will get better results if it is. I have tried to place a copy in a few different spots in different towns (the block you place it on needs to have similar qualities as this block), but the results haven't been very successful.
Once the house is placed, use the soften terrain tool and smooth around the edges of the block. You will also need to level out the ground next to the driveway near the road to place the letterbox. For some reason, even after moving it and saving, once the house was saved to share, the letterbox keeps popping up in the middle of the driveway.

Quirky things about this house
For some reason, the lights don't come on automatically. Not sure why this is, turning lights on and off is something that is done when sims move in, it's not done during building and this house was built without sims in it. Funny thing, when a sim does move in and they go into a room that is dark, the lights don't come on but they don't get the 'it's dark' moodlet. I found I had to play around with the settings on the lights - try changing the colour of all lights to white.
Negative moodlet in loungeroom. There is something to do with the way the stairwell is built that sims get a -10 moodlet when in the loungeroom. I've tried a number of things to remove it but the only thing that worked was to build a wall around the top of the stairs, which made the whole room seem more closed in, a feel I didn't like. The moodlet is easy enough to overcome though. If your sim is watching tv, they get a +15 for pristine picture, they'll get a +20 for the fire being lit and if they are sitting on the lounge, they will get a +30 comfy moodlet.

Please note that all my builds are thoroughly inspected to ensure everything is in working order and that nothing gets in the way of your enjoyment once you move in. Any problems that we have been unable to resolve, will be documented in the properties description. If however you find something that has somehow slipped by the scrutiny of the building inspector and is not listed in the property specs, please advise me and I will look at resolving the matter ASAP.

Another great build Twinmum.  You do these sloped lots so well.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!
