"Build Independent Case" Law Enforcement Career?

Does this option do anything, or result in anything. All I've had to do so far is go to work at off hours to "view new evidence". I'm probably hoping for too much, but some outcome would be nice. Thanks.

I think there will be an outcome eventually, it could be good or bad. I think it's similar to the option in the politics career to go on a new campaign topic (or something like that) - eventually you'll get information on whether it went well or not.

Thanks. Thus far it's been a loooong eventually =)...which ended up being a bust. His whole career he worked on it and none of it stuck for a conviction, lol.

Is there any way to affect the outcome?...mood?...something else, or is it completely random?
